Hi; please understand that I am not being critical. I remember in my younger years when I ran big Stihls; I ran my chains rather loose as well. I believe back in the day we called those bars hardnose and/or 'Stellite' tip. Sprocket nose bars were considered too fragile for serious logging. Nowadays; it seems like that's all I can find is sprocketnose bars for my little; (24" and under), battery operated saws.

no worries, it didnt feel like critisism, its all good! I have 1 20-something inch hardnose bar as well i bought for milling setup at the time so i could attach the guide closer to the tip of the bar. this bar also came with the instruction to run the chain a tad looser then what one normally would do. Ive had sprocket tip bars break/jam on me in the past, generally the thinner gauge stuff doesnt hold up well in rough conditions/wood on tension that kinda thing. At least seems like that for me. that being said i dont always buy the quality ones since i really dont use m all that often. I do think oregon still has some hardnose bars with a regular radius on the tip as well, if you goole "Oregon ArmorTip Plus Hardnose" something should come up. the one i have is from the brand Longer, basicly something cheaper from china. But it does the job! Im pretty sure this also has a stellite tip. sounds familiar anyway.

I know different people have different ideas on chain tightness. I was just wondering why YOU had the chain so loose.

Hi, when one runs the chain on a carving bar without a sprocket in the tip of the bar (hardnose) it does need to be less tight, Also because the smaller radius on the tip the risk of it flying off is a lot lower as well. once u throttle the gas u will also see the chain tighten up into the groove. Over tightening it on a bar like that would reduce the lifespan by a great deal. when i use a normal bar like in the start of the video i do run it more tight else it would throw the chain. Hope i explained it alright. Greets!

hihi 7 :P i have to admit i stopped counting at some point :D. its probably closer to 17 altough i dont really use all of them as much :D I think im a bit of a chainsaw hoarder haha... I think the best sellers are defo the wall hangers, i can make those quite fast, they dont take much material either so i can sell those pretty cheap. Since theyre not sitting on the ground or anything they last for many years as well and everyone has an empty spot on the wall somewhere so no excuses about not knowing where to put it :D #Buymycrap I do need make a lot of stuff though, hardly sold anything last market, but it was a really hot day so people dont really show up for these things when its 30 degrees celcius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). did possibly get a commision job out of the last market at least, waiting on the phonecall though. Someone asked me if i could make a fallus hahaha I dont really make lists or anything, i dont enjoy forcing myself to make certain things, or many of the same thing, i do really try to keep it a fun semi-pro hobby kinda thing making more then 3 of the same things in a short amount of time is already pushing it for me. I may also end up going back to school this year so i may have less time to actually get a lot of carvings done. main reason i was sorting out that foldable little bicycle, ill need it if i end up going through with it. Havent quite decided yet wich direction im gonna go as far as that education goes, will try web development for a couple days next week see if i like it but i do feel something like 3d drawing is probably going to be more suitable for me.. so yeah this little journey also is taking a little bit of my time and energy away at this point :D Probably gonna be worth it in the long run though!

@@MathieusChainsawCarvings Well !..you are a chainsaw hoarder..lol...my goodness 🤣... School..now there are some benefits..I don't know how things go in your country..but a career in woodworking may actually be interesting...it can go from simple carvings to building mansions...you've shown you have a talent with wood and appears you enjoy it...also there's the link to computer graphic designing..designing structures...you would fit there easily... In my opinion..a vocation school for a trade over an academic diploma would be very beneficial and far less costly...with the skills you already have..you would be ahead of many and could graduate sooner...well my opinion and 2¢...😁... @@pamelalee1508 i do agree with your reasoning, altough i feel making a hobby a job would take a lot of the fun out of it. Ill be 41 years old in september as well, im thinking of the future, i see myself at a desk job making an above average wage, my goal is to only work like 25 to 30 hours a week max, maybe less eventually lol.. i feel making the carving thing a job wouldnt work for me, i wouldnt have the freedom to carve what i want when i want like that. I have considered it in the past but decided against it for this reason mainly. its a great hobby and a good way to relieve stress as well, i really think making it a job would just ruin that for me. I do appreciate your thoughts on the subject though :) we will see where it goes, 1 thing is for sure though i will always make time for carving :D

@@johnbroadbent1609 The 50volt 4.5ah battery for the echo costs 269 euro as well, comparable price if you convert it to pounds i reckon. I figured if it lasts long enough to do the blocking etc i can stick it on the charger and finish up detailing with the little stihl 120c. well see how that works out :). ill still get a backup battery at some point but would be nice if i can postpone that for a while :D Its nice to have at least one somewhat professional chainsaw thats for sure! i also started out with the cheapest stuff, and theres nothing wrong with that at all. gives you time to figure out what you really need before breaking the bank :) Good to hear the msa200 is working out good for you, i figured it would at the time as i was already impressed by the cheaper 120c model.

Appreciate you checking it out man! A 1/4" sprocket would be cool, i will get one at some point probably untill then the 3/8 will be fine, it came with 3 chains for the stock bar and i got another 3 new ones for my old trusty 14inch cannon quarter tip bar. ill mainly use it for blocking/bigger sculpts for now and use the stihl 120c i got for detailing if i want to stick to purely battery chainsaws for whatever reason :), would be great set for like carving in residential area's or later in the evenings etc :D They do actually sell one with a carving bar and a 1/4 sprocket where i bought this one but this one was a much better price at 699 euro, i spoke to an echo dealer on the last market i went to and he said there is a 1/4 pitch sprocket for it as well so ill probably just give him a call when i decide to try it. i havent been able to find it myself yet as far as a part number goes. www.zaagkettingdirect.nl/a-79630775/echo-kettingzagen/echo-dcs1600-carving-de-perfecte-accu-carvingzaag-uit-japan/#description I could have ordered this one but i have plenty of bars already and i would still need to get the battery and charger for it, so the 3/8 pitch one is a much better deal for me at this time and for what i need it to do as well! Its a strong chainsaw, more comparable to like a 35 maybe 40cc chainsaw :) perfect for me to block out some bigger stuff i would normally need to use the echo gas chainsaws for, it really accelerates fast as well, feels a lot like a gas chainsaw and it does also have a stepples trigger. i think its going to be very usefull for me and for that price i really just needed to get it :D i would have regret it later if i didnt i imagine hehe. so for this price basicly 2 free chains a free 50volt 4.5AH battery a quick charger and 2 liters of oil as well! Also a little smoke is always nice 🌿🌿🌿 😋

Will do! was running a older stihl chain on it that had a few messy teeth, im not the best sharpener but did get it pretty good. got a couple new oregon chains as well for it the other day from amazon returns for a nice price. Just need to modify them a little and i should be good to go. taking a bit off the backs of the cutters at the right angle makes a big difference for carving. i love to watch those coins i suppose Really am impressed with this saw so far anyway, Love it :D Also appreciate the sub man! thanks a lot 😀🤜

To each his own, i like corded tools too but i hate rolling out extension cords haha.. i prefer battery chainsaws for practicallity but bigger jobs ill grab a gas powered chainsaw, or both!..batterys are expensive :). once they are empty they might as well be a fancy paperweight. battery powered chainsaws have come a long way though but i still have the need to fire up a gas chainsaw every so often as well :). Thanks for sharing your point of view. Take care

I just got back into chainsaws; and I'm battery all the way. From my 6" mini; to my 24" EGO CSX5000. But you're right about the batteries. Luckily I have enough to keep them running; for the length of time an old man can continually run a 23lb chainsaw.😅
