    The Husqvarna is also a very good saw and if still the old 545 about same weight with the benefits of autotune. Its a toss up whichever you like. The new 545 and 550xp are more powerful and accellerate smooth. But that 1 lb of weight may turn off someone with a sore back etc. Just a theory.I have both of those 2 and both are very smooth saws.11.7 lbs I believe. I posted comments during oct 2019 the 550xp was $519 at chainsaws direct.+ tax

    Heavily useless test. Autotuning the AT saw and comparing it to heavily untuned traditional carb is just too typical. Properly tuned 501SX should fall between 13-14000rpm. It rides on par with 550XP maybe having just a tad slower acceleration. Re-tune it even for run in time. Thanks for the video though.

    Well, in principle, I agree with you. The real test will be with a few hours on the clock and both saws tuned to the right RPM. However, in our experience, the Echos shouldn't be tuned up out of the box, as they typically pick up speed almost on their own. In fact, even at the end of this test, the Echo had already picked up 500 rpm or so more. I doubt it would be on par with the 550XP (or Jonsered CS2253), though, especially in a test like this, where acceleration is so important, but perhaps that is something for a later test? ;) Mind you, the 550XP is more than 50 % more expensive, so it would be quite a sensation! Thanks for the feedback, and glad you like the video!

    Toolshed for a "cooler" test you could: 1.cut ~15cm diameter wood 5-10 times with stopwatch. That would show which saw is faster at branches. 2. Cut ~25cm trunk few times and set average time - that would show the cutting speed on very typical wood size. 3. Cut ~35cm trunk few times and set average time - that would evaluate which engine has more torque at nearly max. load (if both have 38cm bars, of course). If you'd also use "picture in picture" mode and show tacho in it - that'd add some more cool factor :) Regarding ECHO - it's factory tuned with 100% pure petrol. For european fuels and especially Aspen it MUST be re-tuned. I've seen even 1/8th of a turn on H needle raising forester's eyebrows even when tacho showed minor difference (regardless of saw brand). With that kind of testing it would be very interesting to see more chainsaws! BTW 545 cuts almost the same as CS-490 (=CS-500) - the test is on KZread. And the retail prices say nothing - 501SX and 545 both have very different prices depending on the market ;)

    What about the difference in weight and vibrations?

    It's been a while, but there was no noticeable difference between the 501 and the Husky, neither in vibrations nor weight. There is some difference in balance, though, as the Husky gives you a longer distance between your hands, while the Echo is more compact. I'd say that's mainly down to personal preference, but did find the Husky a bit more balanced. I love the solid feel of the echo, though, and opening it up you instantly see that Japanese attention to detail!

    Echoes do speed up after they break in. All their equip has tight tollerances. 2 tankfulls and you wont believe its the same saw!!!! Its true

    Echo parts are very high. So if you want rim sprocket 600/620p well worth it plus more power.About .5 ozes heavier too. I not the Shindaiwa 600sx same as 620p but red.

    Hej Kylleven, Glad for at du synes om videoen. :) Vedrørende Husqvarna 545: Vi tør godt anbefale den (det gælder forøvrigt også med Echoen). Som du sikkert ved er den søstersav til Jonsered CS2252, så hvis du foretrækker rød og sort er det også en mulighed. Den eneste forskel på de to vinklen på forreste håndtag, (det er vinkelret på Jonsered'en) samt tanklågene. (Der kan klikkes op for bedre greb på Husky'en) Autotunesystemet (elektronisk karburator) virker rigtigt godt, når bare du sørger for at starte den rigtigt op, (Lad den gå 10-15 sekunder på forhøjet tomgang ved koldstart) da den ikke kører godt når helt kold. Derudover vil jeg anbefale olieblandet alkylatbenzin (fx Aspen 2), særligt hvis ikke saven kører ugentligt eller mere, da "gammeldags" blandet benzin bliver for gammelt, mister smøreevne, og æder slanger og membraner, hvis det står for længe. (Det gælder forøvrigt alle to-takts maskiner.) Desuden kører tingene meget renere på alkylatbenzin, hvilket både er bedre for maskinen og for dig. :) Tror det var det - med en 545 bliver du godt kørende til alt under de største opgaver, og får en hurtigt og kraftfuld semiprofessionel sav, der kan holde i mange år. Mvh Toolshed

    +Toolshed Tak for svar :) det meste var jeg klar over, har selv nørdet meget med motorer, dog mest i veteran-afdelingen! -og er helt enig omkring den med benzinen - der er ikke noget værre end at komme ud til en maskine der ikke har kørt længe, når så skidtet ikke kan starte fordi karburatoren lige skal renses først :) ser frem til flere videoer :-) vh. Carsten

    Echo -> semi chisel, Husky-> full-chisel?

  • @toolsheddk6194

    Both were the standard semi-chisel chains that comes with the saw. I see no reason to believe that the echo chains should be of lower quality, but it could conceivably be less sharp from the factory. A test with similar bars and chains could decide this, but as a consumer test, these have been tested as they come. :)
