    I've got the Shindaiwa 501SX (identical except red). Was initially keen on the Stihl MS261CM but after lots of research and handling them and the Huskie 550 XP Mk II settled on the Shindaiwa based on a combination of Japanese engineering quality, industry reputation for reliability, significantly longer warranty, significant weight advantage, pro quality, similar features, and absence of electronics requiring shop attention for resetting etc. Great little saw with plenty of torque. Very happy.

    I’ve had mine for about a year on my farm and it’s given me no issues and has good power. I did take the round restrictor piece out of the muffler. It comes right out when you take off the deflector. That let it breathe better and make better throttle response without being much louder. Also,it made more power after about 10-12 tanks of fuel.

    Yeah, pretty much. The 501P and 620P are the pro versions of the 490 and 590 respectively. More horsepower and torque, better components and features. The 490 and 590 are basically a pro farm & ranch saw. Much better build quality than the Husqvarna and Stihl line of farm & ranch saws though.

    That,s a tough choice man. Depends on what you do and use the saws for. As a home owner,firewood guy,farm saw...etc. I guess I,d go for the 501P and the 620P. As an Arborist, Climber,and Faller....I,d have to have All 3 at least.,plus a 2nd back up top handle, a Cs-400,501P,620PW,CS-680,7310 and the Cs-800 for stumping and big wood. This of course if I was to just go with ALL Echo! To be honest I,m Not to far off from that line up,minus the 501 and the 800. But..this is what I do for a Living. I Love how the 680 and the 800 have an extra manual oiler. That was a big selling point for me back when they came out. Got a used Cs-680 for milling and the extra oil I have control over is great for that. Couldn't find an 800P at the time.

    Hey I just bought a echo x can-501p just wondering inside the tank I’m assuming is a fuel pump Hooked to gas line is it suppose to be free laying loose wherever it wants to go or is it suppose to be secured ?

  • @ToddAdams1234
    @ToddAdams12342 ай бұрын

    My biggest complaint with this 501 is that the oil tank is tiny. I ALWAYS run out of oil BEFORE the fuel UNLESS I turn the oiler all the way to “stingy”. At that point the chain is almost dry. I can put less fuel in, but I don’t have enough run time as it is.

    An Echo CS-355T will pull a 16" all day Stock. Probably an 18" too,if you really had to go that big on a top handle. Many Echo models tend to make more torque but have a slower chain speed then their 2 main competitors,Husky and Stihl. 3 Good examples would be the Echo Cs-620P,680P,and the 800P. You can also change the sprocket and switch to a smaller pitch chain as well for another option. This will give a little more chain speed,and a faster cut as well from the smaller kerf chain. A lot of guys are doing this conversion now. Especially on their top handle saws. Just a few simple things you can do if you don,t want to start getting into muffler mods and porting. Hope this helped. Oh Geez.. I just re-read your post and I must of read it so fast I didn't notice where you said...'When I,m up in the Tree". Well... after writing all this I,m gonna send the reply anyway,even though you probably already know all this stuff I,m guessing. From one Arborist to Another. Be Safe up there and Take care.....

    I'm watching this because I bought a non running husqvarna 550xp for $200 that had low compression. After disassembling it I ordered a meteor piston and caber rings along with a new base gasket. I got it started only to find that it's got a massive air leak somewhere. All that autotune junk takes up so much room that you cant even see around the carburetor, but I'm betting it's the rubber boot assembly that's the leak,but proving that is tuff. I think I'll get this husqvarna fixed and sell it. Echoes are simple and straightforward machines that are easier to repair at home.

    I'm strongly considering sacrificing a bit of performance and going with Echo after running Huskies for 25 years. I've got a 550xp with low hours on it laying in pieces on my bench because Husqvarna chose to use crank bearings with plastic cages. I will never spend another dime on new Husky saws again. The best saw is one that actually runs.

    I have a CS-620 and a CS-400. The CS-400 is going on 10 years old, It died the other day, and I had to finish everything up with the 620 which is a lot more work for the small stuff because of the weight. So I need another smaller saw. Should I get another 400, or the 501p, or something else? The Echo website says there is only half a pound of weight between the two, do you think that's really right? What I want is a smaller rear handle saw to complement my 620, and maybe add a top handle saw in the near future. I use my saws a lot. I don't have a dedicated tree business, but I use them for work

    Hi Mark! Just came across this video! I’m in the market for a saw upgrade, and looking at this Echo, Stihl Farm Boss, and a Makita 5000/ 5600 saws. Some say Stihl sourcing a lot of stuff from China, and even Makita/ Dolmar is being produced there. I don’t think so, but wondering what you think? I’m subscribed to your main channel, and we have corresponded a few times. Drop starting is both potentially dangerous, and is bad for saws that have an easy start system. Just looking out for you! Thanks Mark! 👍👍👍👍👍👍😁✌🏻🇺🇸
