EBC Brakes has embarked on an incredible journey to develop the ultimate Mk7 Ford Fiesta ST over the course of the next few months.
The project will involve some of the largest aftermarket performance companies in the world, each putting their own stamp on the car throughout the year, before the finished product is given away to one lucky follower.
In Part 6, we leave Pumaspeed after a significant under-bonnet overhaul and head to Burnley-based MAX’D Out, where the car is strapped onto the firm’s cutting-edge dyno facility and fine-tuned to help produce the most power safely possible.

    Is this power on a completely stock engine, or do you have the blockmod shims or anything like that? Nice build btw;)

    You can run 390bhp without getting it forged and without doing the block mod! To get over 350bhp you will need Intake with hoses to make it breath better Full exhaust system with either sports cat or decat downpipe Upgraded injectors The software Intercooler Big brake kit with braided brake lines Either hybrid turbo or Garrett turbo with tubular manifold That’s mainly all you need to get over 350bhp but I’ll say to get 390-400+bhp you need all they modifications I have said with a Garrett turbo with upgraded clutch and get the engine forged

    @@boostedchris6120 Hi, thx for the answer. I have the x47r turbo, so I have all the stuff I need for 350 hp. My only Problem is that my mind is thinking that my cylinderwalls are cracking cause I have seen this on a few high powered Fiestas. Cause of that i wanted to know If there are any changes on the engine of this Fiesta. I will go for a forged closed deck hopefully next year and a uprated Clutch. And then I dont care anymore about my engine;) Cause i know how to use the throttle haha.

    @@Oli20002 Hello honestly no problem at all, considering you have the x57r turbo to get over 350bhp just get upgraded injectors get them mapped in then get another remap but run 98/99 octane of fuel to push the figures up a wee bit. Nah man you’ll be fine I’ve seen 380bhp+ on a stock block without being forged so you’ll be fine don’t worry about it as they’re strong until 390bhp then they’ll need forged and an upgraded clutch. In this vid there isn’t any changes for the engine only upgraded injectors, mapping, intake with hoses, upgraded turbo, intercooler with decat or sports cat downpipe with catcams to push figures up but it’s only roughly 5-15bhp extra! Just get the engine forged and get catcams fitted to help it perform better then upgraded the clutch. Haha when i built my focus rs mk2 I didn’t care about the engine as I was running over 450bhp at 18yrs old without a block mod or even forged then after a few week I just forged it then just built it to make more power and I’m running 600bhp, haha true.

    @@boostedchris6120 yeah mk2 with 600 bhp is very nice. Im only worrying about the cylinderwalls. Piston and rods are known that they are really strong in this engine. My target is to have 340 to 350 bhp with a reliable engine that hold a long time. Now I'm running around 320 bhp. But I have to make the clutch because mine is nearly done, so I go for this uprated clutch from pumaspeed but without flywheel or pressure plate.

    @@Oli20002 Still not quick enough for me even though my mk2 rs did keep up with my old gtr r35 which was running 700bhp😂 cylinder walls will be fine but see when it’s getting forged it’ll be stripped down and the block will be sent away and smoothed to make it the correct size for the forged pistons. The stock pistons and rods can only hold 390, 340-350bhp you definitely don’t need to get the engine forged as they’re safe/ strong asf with that power and it’ll still be reliable, I know people running 350bhp without a forged engine as it’s not recommended to get it forged until you want 390bhp or to get 400bhp still reliable asf never had issues. 320bhp is good but there is always room for improvement in my opinion, yes order an upgraded clutch it will take some time to get use to but it’s worth it in the long run if you want to go 400bhp with a forged engine in the future. I’ll suggest the flywheel as it’s less weight unlike the factory flywheel.
