I believe the lack of feedback removal is a thinly veiled attempt to justify culling sellers from the search so they have something to point at when sellers complain.

Also if you lower your prices below what Ebay deems acceptable, they hide you behind that "We've streamlined your search results to show you the best listings" so that's probably why it has a negative effect as opposed to raising prices.

I haven’t listed on eBay since October. They’re going to lose more money with people leaving. They just keep getting more and more greedy.

They are basically skimming, legally. Scammers on eBay has nothing on eBay itself, lol!

Yeah but, it's not legal if your policy states that if you promote you'll get more views for sales and then they suppress the views through search. Right? Or if the website doesn't work and it is always glitching they're hiding behind that to scam the promoted listings.

End result of higher fees will be higher prices on Ebay, as sellers have to cover their increase in expenses. Higher prices will mean less sales and less sales will continue the decline in daily active users on the platform.

Yo Jeff good vid, @ about 30 mins in you hit it right on the head with respect to the AI routing buyers to an item from Seller B as opposed to Seller A. That’s one means of dispersing what limited convertibles traffic there is to keep as many sellers engaged as possible, but it’s also how it artificially suppresses listings as a consequence. Same thing goes with the cutoff when a certain sales amount is triggered (in my opinion the K-AI is linked to their internal payments risk management node and they’re trying to quietly mitigate chargeback risk exposure in the background on an account-by-account basis). Also a reasonable inference that newer selling accounts don’t have any (or not as many) of the regressive hyperparameters layered on their account/traffic and for this reason they’re given some kind of a non-competitive advantage in the search and positioning. No conspiracy theory needed, they built it to be able to dynamically control the entire ecosystem (buyers, sellers, items). Can’t fight city hall but it’d be great if they’d drop the lead weights that are around our ankles, wrists, and necks at some point, but not holding my breath though. Also I had the same reaction as you when I saw the darth vid, I bought it was quite apropos! Good luck, keep on trucking!

When I get a defect from a glitch or something else something extremely unfair happens, I almost don't feel its worth trying to get help and just suffer a year with it instead. Just to imagine having to get in contact with their terrible support gives me a stress attack... thats how bad it is... It can be a 2-4 weeks project to get something fixed, even the easiest most obvious sh*t - and they still might even end up doing nothing and ghost you. I truly hate so many parts of eBay from the bottom of my heart.

On posh at that time of killed off sales, so many sellers could NOT figure out what was going on. Tons of YT videos were made. They were even doing the detailed listing titles differently to try to gain sales. But many many months later, it all came out about posh splitting sellers into groups, throttling them.

The answers that you get from the first line Ebay representatives mean almost nothing. They'll say and do anything to get you off of the phone, while trying to sound extremely sympathetic. I've been told that I'm allowed to sell in incorrect categories, among many other ridiculous things that aren't even close to true. By the way Jeff, thanks a lot for reading my comment. My apologies for how long that was. If I knew you were going to look at it that closely, I would have made it much shorter. To clarify what you didn't understand when I said, "I know what you're thinking, here's another KZread genius that knows everything", I was talking about what you and your audience were most likely thinking of me, since I was stating everything as "fact". Great channel, and I very much appreciate your time in putting these videos together.

Full disclosure, I'm not watching this video, but just wanted to mention that you may want to consider that credit card companies have raised their fees, so you're mistaken if you think the extra dime is going to be profit. eBay's cost for processing transactions has increased, and part of that increase is being passed on to sellers. That is all.

Ebay should do system restore to when they were not charging fees on Shipping and Sales Tax.

My business model prior to the first week of April 2023, was to target the higher end of whatever market my item was selling in. There are plenty of people who search from higher to lower. Everybody laughs, but I made a lot of money selling on that end of the market. However, since April, nothing seems to matter anymore. Regular listing, prices, nothing matters. Raising prices could trigger something in Cassini, it would almost makes sense! :P

Actually it is good if eBay raises min fee and reduces some other fees, that would discourage sellers that sell everything dirt cheap.

Have you noticed on EBay, that when you do have sales, it’s only in one part of the United States area, as in a few surrounding states ONLY. Example: MA, NJ then nothing days, then TX, then nothing then IL, MO, then nothing then CA OR. It’s like we are rotating on being seen in certain areas. Plus the sales come in timeline quickly, then absolutely nothing for rest of day. I have noticed that.

I have been wondering that very thing. Last week my sales were primarily to the West Coast. I'm in Illinois.

If a seller has 5,000 items making 100K/year,...and then doubles their inventory to 10,000 items, how much will they make the next year? Let's just say 120K. HOWEVER, lets say this seller put the extra 5,000 items in a friend's ebay store that was just created, -and gave his friend 10% of all the profits INSTEAD of doing 10% Promoted Listings,....shouldn't it still be 120K in total sales between the 2 stores??? NOPE. This is called the Galt Anomaly. Even though he KNEW that eBay capped his sales, he couldn't absorb the 'Reality' of it all, and continued to SCALE up regardless of what profit was coming in. Some people call it having a positive attitude. Others call it a mass psychosis of pressure of living up to the hype of being a Top G Seller. Meanwhile J-ride and I have shrunk are store and are up 30% or more.

Makes no sense that they cap sales especially for a seller that is performing well. Why wouldn’t you want to encourage good sellers to keep going and be positive about the platform? If you have a great employee encourage and motivate them. This is a win win for both sides.

@@jrkr1964 There are thousands of empty business buildings in the U.S.,...and Gov't-controlled Ebay wants a good majority of sellers to quit and get back into the 'slave' workforce of those buildings. 'They' don't want independent workers or independent thinking. They want you to rely on them. Some say: "Shouldn't ebay drive extra traffic to Galt and Commonwealth, because their viewers would be more motivated to list items if they saw their success?". I actually think the opposite. I think ebay is trying to throttle them to get their viewers to quit and go work for Big Biz.

@@DarthThrifter Furthermore, regardless of what extent sellers are capped, all sellers need to deal with the assumed fact that there are 2 maintenance shutdowns per day on ebay,...12 to 4pm, and 10pm to 6am,...ebay is still trying to convince me that nobody on the west coast shops after 8pm. Nice try ebay. And James's 52,000 items, -ebay is trying to convince him that he gets 1 sale from the time he goes to bed and wakes up...-even with his promoted listings, best offers, sales markdowns, and international buyers. The "new normal" apparently.

I have played with pricing - I have tried to blow things out by pricing low and I have raised prices to the high end of my category. I haven't noticed much of a difference. I almost always get the same amount of transaction per month. Lowering prices just hurts me.

I am so glad to see you. Love your vids. I got a defect for ebay having a glitch. Item was mailed on time but for some reason ebay had it flip back into need to be shipped. This glitch has happened a few times. Everything they had tracking. Called ebay they are supposed to take defect off. Three days not yet. Lol

I had decided to promote a swatch like everything from 29.99-59.99. So I turned it off started a 15 percent sale 24 hour sale. I didn't sell anything from left over promoted nor sale items. Things that were old like more than a year. I think my stuff has never been seen so I am testing. TY

You called ebay...? Do you have an anchor store, or premium? I had Anchor for many years but 2yrs ago opted down to Premium as w/current sales $300/mo wasn't worth it. Ebay continued taking my calls until a few months ago... now I can't get through on the phone and the online 'loop' is worthless. Am I missing something???

Justt tried to call in as my account has come to a complete standstill! Zero way to get through to an agent!

System restore is funny but they'd lose all our new listings that aren't selling because they aren't coming up in search anyway 😂

it's been widely documented on this channel and on many yt'ers channels that ebay changed their algorithm from a pure search engine to a similarity search engine. they basically wrecked their search and are trying to predict what a buyer may want instead of giving them search results for what they are looking for. they also throttled everyone's sales back 50% or more in some cases trying to squeeze sellers to up their promoted listings (basically it's just paying for search placement). ebay is like the mafia. they hide your listings unless you promote high enough. and now it's becoming apparent they choose who to give sales to by essentially controlling your sales. thats why everybody always seems to have the same views, make the same money, give or take 10% of what that irrespecitive person usually makes. april is the day ebay screwed sellers and until they admit their mistake and go back to the previous system I don't see it getting any better. what's worse is that long time sellers who have spent years, sometimes decades building up a store feel trapped.

The throttling of sales is a rough theory. Logically speaking... doesnt make sense .. unless their are ulterior motives. I will be double/tripling my listing this week which in turn should increase average sales. Im going to run a test on no promotions, then see if itnchanges if i promote my lower teir items at 2%.

Stoic! How dare you question the conspiracy. Yes, there are ulterior motives, they want full control of you, -especially if you don't promote at 10% or more. For the most part eBay doesn't lose money when they hide your listings, because the potential buyer will just buy a similar item from another seller. You don't need to test your 2% theory, -you already know the answer, -of course you will get more sales...because they will suppress you less, -but eventually they will Cap'n-Crunch you until you panic and raise your promoted rate again. Don't let AI find out that you are a scared B-YACHT-CH or you will be stuck in the Matrix....forever.

I’ve had a bad few days even buyers not paying … buyer contacted me to say her leggings split .. there no seam at the back to split.. so weird but I sleep on a complaint and in the morning my brain sorts things out! I have returns if the leggings split out in a return, I feel it’s a buyer wanting me to refund without sending item Back … 3weeks ago she received them & probably worn them 🤷🏻‍♀️ but doesn’t the crap 💩 hit fan when things are bad! My small store I lost my top rated plus .. I’m 100% but they say I’m 2sales off the number needed but my 💰amount is double that needed! It’s because the sales stopped ! Your response to negative feedback is great just take off the last bit too long.. so many sellers are gone .. not sure why eBay is killing the site!

Even if the feedback comment violates ebay policy they still won't remove it. They just aren't going to remove it. I just leave a comment on the feedback to make them look stupid without being a butt about it. I had a moron the other day say that he wasn't satisfied so he through the item away. I told him I'd gladly give his money back if he returned the item. And given his feedback he knows this and was obviously trying to get a post purchase discount. Banned.

it is going to take few years for me to wind down my ebay store and focus more on FBA. You can't scale your ebay business, it is impossible, so it is waste of time trying it. If the newbi reseller ask me which platform they should be on, I would recommend Amazon over ebay. How long the seller have to suffer b/c ebay can't their stuff together? I'm done with ebay, this is coming from 8 years full time ebay seller

i couldn't recommend ebay or amazon in good conscious. At this point I'd say wait for a platform that actually cares about sellers. Whether that will ever happen, I don't know. I could deal with a platform that doesn't even care about sellers, but doesn't actively seek to harm via fees and lack of customer support at this point. my standards are quite low right now.

@@hayfro I will say that MOST corporations don't have any moral except maximizing the profit for their share holders. This is how the world is. I don't support Amazon who treat their worker like garbage but does it mean that you will never ever shop on Amazon rest of your life? We have to face the fact that there isn't such thing as innocent, honest corporation.... Last year has been tough to most sellers and I can't go through that again this year. Last year, Poshmark and Etsy help me with sales but those platforms are not my main income, it is ebay. I'm trying to replace my ebay sale with Amazon. There is NO sales velocity on ebay, it doesn't matter how much you put into Ebay, you will NEVER EVER get ahead, it is waste of time to build any business on Ebay platform. When was the last time you encounter Amazon server issues as a seller or the buyer? I will say virtual none

In the reply I would keep it factual: Items listed, questions answered, items shipped on time, item arrived in good condition, buyer satisfied. What else should a seller do? :P

You should not leave a snarky comment on feedback. Everyone knows eBay sellers can be weird. We expect it. Try to be as professional as you can. I avoid sellers not because of their feedback rating, but because of the abrasive comments they've made to neutral or negative ratings.

I'd feel better about the 10 cent increase if at least the Steiners got that money directly. They truly deserve it for the hell eBay's employees put them through. eBay themselves do not deserve it.
