    We don't test with compressed air, one of the machines we make is air over hydraulic that generates up to 33,000 psi of hydraulic pressure, and has specific test plans for each different injector. This is not something you can do without expensive specialized equipment.

    I have spent a lot of time in China sourcing parts and other things for the diesel business. The most eye opening factory visit was in a town called Ningbo. They literally were producing the 505 and 503 injectors. Bodies, c.v.s parts and nozzles all made in one factory. They ran them on Bosch stands. Flash forward to me back in the states and I buy “Bosch injectors” for the job and they are the exact same ones from that factory. I don’t trust shiny. I would rather have a dull rebuild that looks like crap than a shiny Chinese knock off.

    What could cause a lope at idle? Trucks an early 04 cummins. Starts easily hot or cold, doesn't smoke. I plan on replacing the fca soon, just worried it might be something else. Doesn't lope in gear, will only lope in park or reverse ( does lope when crusing to a stop, but only does it before slowing to 15mph, after 15mph it won't do it)

    I bought a set of those junk China injectors for my 03 and they lasted about 2 weeks. Another set from some scammer in Texas didn't last 200 miles. I finally sent my Bosch to a guy in TN. He rebuilt and balanced them. My truck has ran great ever since. Smoother idle and best fuel mileage. My old truck has 580××× miles and pulls great.

    honestly,,the real junk is the actual common rail injection,the old 12 valves never had any issues like this,my 07 common rail will never be as reliable as my older 12 valves,which is why the CR engine is being yanked out and a built 12 valve is going in,the best of both worlds,great truck,and reliable mechanical engine,

    Awesome info showing exactly why genuine Bosch parts make a difference. Makes me wonder if my new injectors are real Bosch. I have a cold start misfire and a steady chug or misfire sound around 1500rpm when cruising. Not sure what to do next. They ohm out ok, rail pressures look ok, prv is capped off, lift pressure is steady, delivery tubes are torqued... Could it be a lazy solenoid? I have a sound clip on my channel, trying to get outside opinions to make an educated move next.

    I recommend you have them tested by a reputable fuel service shop. I would definitely get rid of the rail cap, pressure can easily spike well beyond what the rail sensor will display. Bosch could have certainly saved millions of dollars by omitting a relief valve, if they were not necessary.

    I've used cheap Chinese parts before, but I won't touch injectors unless they're from a manufacturer that I have some degree of faith in. I watched a YT video a few weeks ago in which the tech was to diagnose a "runs like crap" condition after someone installed new parts, which included injectors. The tech noticed the new injectors and checked them, and found one that failed to close. With the injector pouring gas into the cylinder, he informed the customer that the engine may of hydro-locked that cylinder and bent a connecting rod. And that wasn't a common rail injector with pressures upwards of 20k psi. It was a gasoline port injector with pressures of less than 80 psi. As I watched this video, I just looked for other "el-cheapo" injectors, and there was one in which a guy put cheap injectors into an older LT1 engine, and a fog of unburnt gas bellowed from the exhaust pipe. Another injector that was just stuck open. Imagine that on a Common Rail, be it a Cummins, Powerstroke or Duramax. Instead of a cylinder, it would be a crucible for melting aluminum, the kind that used to be pistons.

    When I made this video (2018) counterfeit parts were just starting to hit the automotive aftermarket, they were an exception to the rule, now they seem to be the norm. When China even copies the packaging, it's anyone's guess as to what it really is.

    Not all Bosch made parts are good, consider the CP4. compared with the Cp3. The Cp4 is like junk, in the US, guaranteed to fail and leave you with a $10,000 bill for a new fuel system. I have seen them come apart, the aluminum housing is junk, the buckets wear into them, the roller slide engineering is junk, slips, jams, twists in the bore. It is like how poorly can Bosch make something to fail and cost the customer a lot of cash after the warantee runs out. I know supposedly they work great in Europe, but dont you think Europe will move to ULSD too? Then what do you think going to happen. The CP3 is very robust and elegant and great engineering. I am sure Bosch designed the cp4 to make them more money, cheaper to manfacture, lousy for consumer just means more future sales of pumps and injectors when they blow up. They can even jam up and break the front gear case apart, then your motor is trashed, start over. Too bad cant have a 2 micon filter after these pumps in the high pressure rail.

  • @MotorsportDiesel

    @MotorsportDiesel

    5 жыл бұрын

    Exactly, well put. I was told that so much money was lost on the CP3, because it works so well, and not prone to failure, that a new money making pump HAD to be built. So perhaps, the CP4 is designed to fail.
