    Great information here thanks. I’m trying to tie in the park neutral safety switch that came on the transmission. I managed to find wiring diagrams however there is one connection I’m not sure about. It’s the park/neutral position. One of the wires goes to the starter relay. The other goes to the power train interface module (PIM). The PIM in turn has a wire to pin 58 on the C1 connector of the ECU. Have you had any experience with this. What exactly is the PIM as I don’t have it. Do I need it to make the park neutral safety switch work?

    Real quick note - On the fuel pump relay, you mentioned that the ECU probably sends about 5v to the relay on the green wire so that the relay will send the full 12v out to the fuel pump on the red wire. The idea here is correct but instead of different volts it is amps that are different. The relay's electro-magnet draws a small amp load of current to operate so the green 12v wire is a smaller gauge since it is only handling the small amp load; however, the fuel pump pulls a much larger amp load of 12v power when it is running. Because of this, the 12v red feed wire to the pump must be a larger gauge to handle the larger 12v amp load. Being able to control devices that draw a lot of current through the use of small gauge switch wires is one of the main uses for relays.

    Small wire goes to your ignition switch. This is what powers your solenoid to turn on the starter. On a 1997 I think they were using the black cap distributor so whatever wire connected that should work. If not just find any 12v source that's on while cranking

    Thanks for the great video Jovani, I have the China CNCH-3250 harness for my LQ4 swap and it works 100%, but there's something that I can't wrap my head around. Everyone mentions connecting both positive lugs onto the + starter terminal. My harness came with a large and small ring lug in the lead that goes to the starter, so I connected the large ring to the starter positive (batt+) and the smaller ring to starter solenoid trigger. That small ring is wired directly to the starter relay in the CNCH fusebox that came with the harness (I traced it back), so it makes sense that you are supposed to connect your old starter wire from your key to that relay, and then that triggers the starter, or am I missing something here?

  • @JovaniDanteGriego

    @JovaniDanteGriego

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think typically in older vehicles there is a wire going from the key switch directly to the starter. I can't remember now but I believe both should go to the positive side of the starter. That one going to the solenoid would only get power when it's cranking. But maybe they changed the wiring on it. I've heard some of the newer ones just don't work so it could be a manufacturing thing

Did a compression test, all cylinders were in range, I’m getting fuel and fire but it’s just so strange.
