They used to have really good chicken, I stopped buying it because it didn't taste the same. But the fried pork is good, they changed the way they serve it, in the past you could purchase fried pork by weight (you can pick one or two pieces), but now the serve in the small aluminum pan for $13.

That part of Roseville Ave is no joke. The McAvoy Buildings wow talk about history. Roseville is like Mt. Prospect Ave were almost all mansions. It was known for doctors, dentists and funeral parlors. I remember the National Guard rolling out of that armory during the riots. I remember PAL being up on the roof of the 5th pct. there where the horse PD stables were on 6th and Orange. Once 280 came in it ruined an entire community, the same way when they started constructing 78.

OK Nic, you are showing us your age now. 🙂 I remember we used to play on the construction vehicles and dirt of 78. My cousin used to live on Roseville back then. Their house was HUGE.

Mad respect matt thank you I went to newark technical career center better known as newark tech on 91 west market street and remember from home room class had a view of the Scudder homes projects loved the video you didn't try the plantains

Hi Matt! The only projects I remember was in NEWARK. So much has changed since 1966 when I left. Wow. Williams n Grove in East Orange ain't like it use to be. But for the better I hope.

McAvoy's was the joint back in the days. It had a roof top swimming pool; it had a bowling alley. It was like the Plaza Hotel in NYC.

I drop off on Fridays on my way home at a local Mercado to grab some chicarrones and it's amazing! Great video and looks like some delicious food. I've not seen any Dominican food in the OKC area.

Have you tried dev's jamaican cuisine located on 597 Bloomfield Ave you can park in watessing park parking lot next to the swings and walk there so you don't have to pay meter .I had the ackee and cod fish with rice,peas ,cabbage and plantains.

I lived on 9th St and 12th Ave. Many, many moons ago.

After leaving "Coney Island," you passed by a live chicken spot called "San Miguel's." Practically next door between Coney's and U.S. Fried on the corner. GET THERE! Just last week, I saw a live chicken run out and across the street. (Old joke, but this was REAL.) When you return to Coney's, please go there, too. (I have never been inside, so I can't personally vouch.)
