My Dad, who was raised in a Pentecostal home said his uncles would pray over the food until it was cold😂😂. After becoming a member of the church of Christ, he always told us to be thankful, give thanks, while we're eating! Prayer is a personal thing I think. Gratitude is the best attitude!

You owe no one an explanation of praying or not. You are the most precious young ladies with faith in your heart not out there for show, drama. Your religion is in your heart. Your family is to be envied and there are many busy bodies out there. Stay strong, safe and happy. I adore you all. Such real people! Love from Kansas City, Missouri.

Father kmows our hearts.. Our intent.. Our truth.. And each of us gets to have our very own intimate relationship with Father. I agree with Katie... A person shouldn't judge another... That's Father's job not ours.. Lol. I love the poppy story... Katie's face showed her angst over it even now. Y'all are sweet spirits! ❤️

Always good to pray to God before eating. I sometimes forget. I was raised in a family before eating dinner - we would bow our heads and pray “bless this food to our use, and us to they service and let us be mindful of the needs of others.”

Foxglove grow wild here in the PNW. Dad gave me a steamer pot where you put all your veggies in the basket, water in the pot underneath, then put the lid on. Stove top heat. Then, I use the veggie-infused water for a soup base. Nothing wasted.

In the Bible, the pharisees, always prayed out in the open in the halls of the synagogue so people could see them and that’s all it was for , show ! I don’t make a big deal out of praying in public that’s not what God asks of us he asks us to be grateful for what we have and our health ect. . The one thing he asked of us that we should never do is deny him before others and always be ready to speak the truth about him and his word! ❤

My grandparents always said grace at supper time. I don't recall hearing them say it for breakfast or lunch. It wasn't something that my parents ever did. Now, I rarely remember to do it right before the meal - but I generally do it during or after. Like Katie said, though, I express my gratitude to God all throughout the day - so I'm sure He knows I appreciate Him.

You know girls as long as you are thankful deep down in your heart for everything that is more important than anything. Some of us just don't like to call attention to ourselves and privately thank God. Actually the Word says that man looks on the outward actions and God looks at what is in our hearts. Thank you for sharing your lunch and thoughts. I'm always blessed in some way when I tune in to your channel. Have a blessed day you two and your lovely family.Hugs.

Hi Katie ---you were asking about any successes with wildflower mixes. My momma came & did up my whole front garden when I was too pregnant to be gardening (18 years ago). She did a beautiful job. She included a good heavy sprinkling of wildflower seeds. One of the first plants to show up was monsterous, threatening to take over every area of the garden. My newborn daughter was inside sleeping & I was busy removing all of them! For brand new plants that shot up like that --their roots were just as crazy. I never found out what those were, but I had many other beautiful wildflowers come up that year. My favorites were wild orange California poppies, sweet williams of every color, & one neat little blanket flower. The sweet williams looked as if they were deliberately planted. So pretty! -much love to both of you ~Mary & fam in NJ

Hi Ladies. Good to see you! For your bare hill, you might try planting some Lamium (lam - e- um). I have the kind that has bi-colored leaves and gets a sort of pinkish purple flowers. They get about 6" tall, maybe 7" and spread nicely by themselves. They come back every year and also transplant easily. I also have some Lilies of the Valley (Maybells) because of the smell and that they look green all summer. I just love them. Also, know that birds are great planters of seeds. They eat them and then digest them, and their droppings contain undigested seeds. Regarding slugs, diatomaceous earth is great to get rid of them. Spread some around those plants they seem to like, and they will not like the sharpness. You can get it in food grade so it's not harmful to people or pets.

That dinner looked really yummy y’all. I think it’s fine to pray silently in your head. The Lord still hears it and since we have a personal relationship with the Lord, like Katie said, you don’t know and can’t judge a book by its cover. I always thank God for another day when I get up. I sure hope that you get some poppy flowers to come up, Katie and I hope that the deer don’t come after your garden like they did your mamas last year, Corie. I hope y’all don’t start getting a lot of rain again or any more deep frost so, y’all can catch up and get everything planted when it needs to be planted. Y’all have a good day and a good weekend. Hi ladies, thanks for the dinner invite, I enjoyed the conversation! To me, lunch is called dinner and dinner is called supper. That's what my family always called them and I noticed your Mom and Dad do that a lot of the time too. It's very Appalachian. I think that's kind of dying out now though and people refer to those meals as lunch and dinner like everybody else in the U.S.

First let me say I have learned so many valuable faith lessons from you both. Here is my 2 cents - dear sisters: The beautiful value in saying grace out loud is manifold: 1.) You create a habit for yourself that you will treasure just as much as you treasure going to church on the Lord's day. 2.) You give children - especially - a visual sign of how our interior disposition should be at all times, a disposition of thankfulness for even the littlest of things Jesus gives us, 3.) In a day and age where we are all loosing faith... and especially our reverence for each other and for God... the sign of the cross on your head, hearts and shoulders signifies that everything you do... you do by virtue of the cross. Saying grace quietly but out loud... is not just so you can evangelize yourself... but so you can evangelize others. Jesus and his followers ALWAYS prayed out loud before every meal. We can too. It will help us. Also, grace does not need to be a complicated oration. A simple sign of the cross in a restaurant or home or anywhere is a very good beginning. In fact long winded orations kind of defeat the purpose of faith's simplicity.

Tk u for sharing ur lunchtime w/ us. I'm in agreement w/ u Ms Katie...prayer (how & when) is a personal thing. Ms Corie, my dad was an excellent gardener. He always watered in the early mornings, never after 11 am.

We don’t always say grace before our meal but I thank God all day long. One of my favorite old timey flowers are Sweet Williams. My paternal grandmother always had those and I have put out seed down through the years. I’m going to try the lava rock as the snails love my Hostas. Going to look for those chocolate bars. Dark chocolate is my favorite. Loved the visit. Happy Easter!

Happy Good Friday Ladies & Happy Easter!! Thanks for taking Me Along for Lunch..made Me hungry for a Burger (love homemade the best) I am not really a fan of chocolate but if I eat I like peanut butter cups because of the Protein too. We don't have an Ingell's in MO, but I hear a plenty of people East, speak of them. Definitely would be nice to try their stuff. Hope You All have Great Success with Your Flowers, Gardens & Your Mom too. Tell Granny GOD BLESS HER TOO, I'd eat cake with HER!! LOVE TO ALL OF YOU!!

Poppy’s do not come back from seeds. You have to start from roots. They go dormant after they are done blooming.
