Eat Like Andy Warhol

Explore the art and life of Andy Warhol through the food he depicted as well as the food he actually ate. We work our way through the ultimate Andy Warhol tasting menu. And don't forget to subscribe to Sound Field! / @soundfieldpbs
From Coca-Cola, Cornflakes, and Campbell's Tomato Soup, to a single mushroom, a banana, and a giant piece of meat, we step our way through the industrially-produced foods that Andy Warhol both ate and also venerated in his art. Let's eat like Andy.
Thanks to our Grandmaster of the Arts Vincent Apa, and all of our patrons, especially Yakira Dixon, Patrick Hanna, Nichole Hicks, Iain, Eve Leonard, David Moore, Jane Quale, and Constance Urist.

I just noticed it has a glowing review from Truman Capote, another of my favourites. I particularly remember that Warhol describes a telephone conversation with someone who explained how they tackled certain household chores. Strangely fascinating. I believe he had a genuine interest in people. His art reflects that.

Heddy Lamar tried to make coca cola concentrate in a cube so that it could be shipped everywhere and everyone could have it, but soon learned that the variations in water quality around the world made it impossible to taste the same

I don't really watch TV, only films. So. I feel indebted to PBS Digital for its conglomerate of enrichment channels here on KZread. Always quality. Keep up the good work. You all, plus a good amount of unaffiliated channels really do make KZread time well spent as opposed to endless gag videos, for me.

Great video So informative I have several books on Warhol so I knew about Serendipity It was cool to see how one of their specialties was made I've been known to eat hot chocolate powder right out of the package Now I know how to make a lovely confection from it☺

I will not lie, I unashamedly did a happy dance when I saw this in my subscriptions feed. :D I love these looks into the lives of the artists, this kind of backstory and context never fails to broaden my understanding, and often appreciation, for their work. And I never knew that those brillo/etc boxes were made of wood! Though I'm really going to have to take issue with Warhol's idea of cake. :P Great episode, and double high fives for Sarah's "curse at your blender, which was too expensive to be executing its task this poorly!" That made me laugh way too much. ;)

Andy is one of an elite few artists whose work was so influential and predictive of modern culture that I think it's hard for younger fans to understand how groundbreaking he was in his prime.

The weird jittery lines he made using that technique you showed with the ink pen reminds me of the style of animation in the Cartoon Network show Ed, Edd, and Eddy. I was always intrigued by that style especially since the lines would jitter and change thickness in every frame of the animation. Wonder if they were inspired by him or used some similar technique.

Okay I LOVE this! So much work must have went into this one. Kind of reminded me of Twain's Feast, an Audible program I listened to in which author Andrew Beahrs and Nick Offerman try and recreate food Mark Twain loved and share it at a dinner party held in his house.
