At school I was told by an art teacher that I was rubbish at art so never ever bothered with it. My granddaughter wanted to do a painting for her Brownie badge so I decided I would also have a go. I found your video, watched it three times then had a go at a simple tree. Following your style I managed to produce a more than passable tree, have done some more and even put them into a simple landscape. Thank you for giving me the confidence to do it and show other people them. I now have a new hobby. Regards. John

Teacher is a subjective word. ❤
Thank you for the demonstration and explanation of the different papers and how they react. So often, I hear "use this paper" without any explanation of why. This is very helpful to me. It also may explain why I'm not getting consistent results because I've been using whatever is on sale.
I haven’t even watched the video yet, but just wanted to say that I am so grateful for another video! Thank you for a video on one of my favorite subjects, trees! Have a beautiful day! Now to get my paints and follow along. Much Love and respect from North Carolina, Stacy
So glad you showed the one of Arches paper. Love what you do!
Thank you, Emma. Your explanation and showing us the difference of how the paint reacts on Canson and Arches is very helpful.
LOVE the tree and thank you for the great tip about different papers!
Sorry to be redundant but had to also say thank you so much for showing the difference between papers! As a total newbie I was floored Looking forward to recreating this and as always so grateful I discovered your channel as I’m so appreciative of all the wonderful things you share!
That's what I call a proper tutorial. Thank you !
Thank you, Emma!!! You are a great artist and teacher and I love your tips!!!
Perfect tree! I plan to practice this method. Thank you for sharing Emma. You are an inspiration....🧜🏽♀️
You have a nice little happy tree here. I find too if you are painting a tree outdoors or looking from your window it really helps to squint your eyes a little and it really shows the differences in the dark and light colors of the trees. It helps.
Thanks for breaking this down for me. You are consistently adding to my knowledge and Im an avid visual learner.
The best tutorial for a tree that have ever seen. Just love your work!
This is a great tutorial! Perhaps you might share a tutorial of the same tree painted in each of the seasons. (?). Thanks so much for sharing your talent.
Thank you for sharing and making it so clear how you get the effects you do. I will be trying trees from now on! In the U.K.
Love it, Emma! And thanks for the tip about the paper. ♥️
Thanks for this tutorial, is great that we can see all, when you grab more water, your paint etc. Not everyone does that
You make it look so easy! You are an amazing artist and I love how soothing your narration is!!! Thank you for inspiring me!
love all your postings, i started water color mid-June, really learned a lot from your videos. thank you so so so much!
You make it look so easy! Thanks and I cant wait to try it myself.
Really like the added layer for texture. Great info about the paper types, too. Thanks for another great one!!
Love this so pretty! Thank you so much for showing us this and how to use cheaper paper!!
I am a beginner and love love your tutorials! My friends think I ve become a great artist but I couldnt do a thing without your tutelage!
Your tree looks beautiful! It’s a wonderful painting! Thank you for sharing.
I had no idea the differences in paper and especially when perhaps the more expensive isn't the best for the project. Excellent tree tutorial. You really inspire me so much that I can go ahead and jump in trying watercolor.
Love your work! As a total beginner, i appreciate your clear instructions.
Wow! Love your watercolour pieces!
Wow looks awesome. I am glad you showed the Arches painting and differences. Your tree is beautiful.
You teach so clearly! Can't wait to try it now. :-) Thank you!
Always great and with very helpful information. I used to think I was the problem, but when you had demonstrated the difference between papers, it was such a relief because, honestly, I was ready to give up. Now, I will try different papers and see what each is good for. 😊

It helps me so much to know that it's not always me! Sometimes it's the paper and knowing how it will react. All watercolor papers are not the same.
I love Canson! Think there's only about 20 of us that do, so Emma, it's now 18! LOL You can absolutely get some very interesting textures and fascinating layers with cellulose paper. I did some fun and clever sunflowers for my sister's large wall. I painted 4 sections of a big loose sunflower on one corner, large sunflower section. Lots of loose. It was pretty cool if I may say so. Canson can really elevate your talent optically! Give it a whirl. :)
Ok... I am two-thirds in and just had to subscribe! This is so, so easy. You aren't patronizing, lecturing or giving me an AD for exp tools. Thank you, my dear! I'm excited, inspired and can't wait to get started! Will ck out your other vids! Blessings
Thank you! This has helped me so much
Beautiful - I love it. Thanks for another great video !
Yayyyyyy! Another Awesome Video ❤️ Thank You 😊
Love it !❤️
this the best for a tree drawing I ever seen. Thank you.
Great tips about the effect of using different paper, i didn't know this!
Love your videos. I'm fairly new at watercolor art and you are a great teacher and artist.
That was amazing!
It's always a pleasure tu learn while watching your video ! :) Thank you for sharing all your tricks!
Love this! Love you! I've had luck on Arches, but you need to use a drier brush and do more layers. I had trouble with the loose florals for the opposite reason, I needed a wetter brush.
Very helpful tutorial!
Thank you for a great video. I will have to try a tree using your tips.
Thanks for showing the difference on Canson vs Arches. What a relief. I know paper makes a huge difference , But I thought it was my lack of skill too.
I am going to give this a try. Yours is beautiful. Thanks for another great video. Blessings from Sue in Delaware
You are an amazing artist
Lovely paintings... I tried your poppy flowers. Thank you so much
You are wonderful to watch!!

🎉🎉❤❤
Good tutorial, I will experiment with this tutorial :)
Hi Emma. Love this video. Learned so much! Could you mention the colors you are mixing so I can learn how to make those paintings?
Thank you very much 🌳 I would like to ask you next time, to take a close-up of the picture at the end of the painting when it is wet and after it has dried. It will be interesting to see the details in the dry drawing.🌷🌻🍁🍂🍃
I love your work. I love how you simplify the process. May I ask, what type of Canson paper did you use for this piece?
Excellent.
I'm lucky to be the first viewer of this video 💃
Good one! Thanks
I like thetree painting. I have trouble with trees
Thanks for how well you presented this. Inspired me to try it. One note: you said you preferred Canson paper for this project & explained why (much appreciated) ... but you listed Arches & not Canson in your supply list. ??
I love your tree. For some reason I am picky about trees. I have come across some very non-inspiring examples of watercolor trees. I do like at l least some texture with hints of a few leaves. I use to paint in oils and for the last layer, I would let the paint set up and then add the final layer indicating leaves. Most watercolor trees looks like a big mush. Your tree is by far the best I have seen and an idea of how to approach what I am looking for. Thanks for the hints on watercolor paper. Question: So if I use Arches Cold Press paper for my tree, it still will blend too nicely which we do not want. I notice that landscape artists do use Arches Cold Press for all their landscapes. Just wondering. I love your work. You make things fun!
Love your videos! Do you have any Christmas tree videos?
I was wondering what texture of Arches paper you have, and if Arches “rough” might solve the texture problem. Enjoy your videos very much, Emma, thank you!

Karen Allen it doesn’t say it on the pad I have. Feels rough lol.

There are 3 textures of Arches paper; hot pressed (smooth), cold pressed ( some texture, or “tooth”) and rough (or NOT) in the UK. The most commonly used is cold pressed, but some people prefer the hot pressed, esp. for botanicals, or some artists will only use rough, often preferred for landscapes, and loose or less detailed paintings. I believe Canson comes in these 3 textures also, thanks for your wonderful videos, and putting up with this loooong thesis 👍🏼

Karen Allen oh, good to know!! Yeah I used the cold pressed arches. I’m not a fan of hot pressed paper. Haven’t tried the rough one yet
💟💟💟
Nice
Could you do a Gerbera Daisy?
Do you have a web site that is not subject to the censorship of KZread, instagram, facebook, etc.?
Joyce Kilmer’s tree.😌
I’d like to enter the contest. I like mission gold water colors but work with other brands.
I think Arches would work but you would need to dry between layers.
