Easy Watercolor Abstract Painting Tutorial - 2024 - 14

Today, I want to dispel the idea that a person needs to know more about painting with watercolors before getting started. The best way to learn this medium is to start painting regardless of one's skill level. Like just about anything else in life, we can learn better by doing what it is we want to do. And this is no different. Come experiment and play with me! I believe you'll not only have fun, but you'll learn a ton in the process.

- For this painting, I cut my paper to 9 x 9 inches.

* A solid surface to tape the paper
* Water
* Coarse grain salt
* Fine grain salt
* Rubbing alcohol (70%)
* Paper towel (I like to reuse mine to create painting backgrounds.)

I have learned so much from your videos about enjoying playing with paint, following intuition and not seeking perfection or taking myself too seriously (rule No:6!) Have been reading the comments about the music and finding them interesting. Usually, I do not enjoy any music at all in videos…….BUT your videos, Gabrielle, are very different and quite unique ….in that I consider them to be meditative, calming and thoughtful. The gentle piano music seems to suit the ‘vibe’. I think it offers a nice balance as well as enjoying listening to your description of the process.

Ultimately, we all have to be responsible for ourselves and at same time, if I set out with good intentions for how I treat others, I hope this will somehow come through also. Again thank you 💕

Hi Gabrielle 💕 this painting turned out to be really cool! I am always so wowed when I see what a difference the iridescent paints make! I love watching you paint it on! 😍 I felt the same way, two videos ago! Both pieces turned out to be beautiful, and the iridescent paints make them extra "yummy"!! I hope you love the results as much as we do! Continuing our last conversation I agree, the waiting in between doctors' appointments and test results etc is so difficult! Too much time to think! I'm thankful we have our art to get us to a place where we aren't thinking about our trials for a bit! I'm glad you've got a great support system, especially at home! 🤗 I hope you had a good weekend! Hello Lori, my sweet friend ❤️🤗 I'm glad you enjoyed this one too! ☺️ It's gotten to a point where my paintings almost feel naked if I don't add iridescent colors 😂 I am happy someone out there understands my affliction! 😂 Yes, thank goodness for our creativity and for being well loved and supported! Art helps me be more present and mindful and when it's not easy for me to focus, my loving hubby finds a way to distract me or make me laugh 🥰 Soon, the gardening season will be here too and that will be another great way to refocus my mind on the things I also enjoy doing outside (I cannot wait to watch the bees pollinating my flowers ☺️. Well, after I plant some that is 😂) How are you doing? I hope life is treating you well. Sending lots of love and great big hugs your way ❤️🤗

I never got a notification that you replied, I'm glad I checked. I've always had allergies to grass, trees etc, so I don't really get a chance to appreciate the outdoors as much as I would like to. I'd love to be able to garden and grow some beautiful flowers. I've heard gardening is so relaxing and therapeutic. I'm glad you have that to look forward to, enjoy! I'm doing well. My daughter is doing so much better, mental health wise, for the first time in seven years. I am so thankful, and just keep praying that it continues. She and my husband are going to go to Cozmel in May for a week. I can't go due to my fragrance and preservative allergies, but I'm so happy for her! I suppose it will be like a mini vacation for me too! 😉 😂 That's my update. 😊 Have a great weekend. 💕🤗

Yes, I can imagine that this time of the year would bring many challenges. 😔 I used to have pretty severe pollen allergies when I was younger, but thankfully they went away as I got older. I wonder if acupuncture could help somehow? But, I'm sure you know more about this than I do. I'll share my flowers and garden visitors with you via pictures 🤗 I know it's not the same, but I hope it will be enjoyable for you nonetheless. ❤ I'm so happy to see your daughter is doing as well as she is and how fun that she and your husband will be traveling to Mexico! And since I love a good staycation, I'm happy you'll be getting a little vacation of your own in the process ❤ Hopefully you'll have lots of time to create and do all the things you enjoy doing by yourself 🤗 Lots of love heading your way sweet friend 💕

Been there once or twice too 😉😂 These days, instead of fearing the blank page, I notice myself procrastinating instead of painting when I'm feeling especially daunted by what I'm about to try. Love the gold with the blue. It just pops. I recently bought handmade watercolor off of Etsy that is called Northern Lights and Halo. They are vibrant. I want to put them on black watercolor so they will pop. Love your videos. Hope you have a great weekend.😊

Un voyage créatif qui nous emmène toujours vers de belles perspectives. Encore merci du partage. Si ça t'intéresse, une autre manière d'utiliser l'alcool. je prends de l'alcool 90° mais 70 ça doit aussi marcher. Sur du papier photo je colorie avec des feutres à alcool tout mon fond et ensuite je mets de l'alcool dessus : soit des gouttes, soit je laisse couler l'alcool. J'utilise ces fonds pour des cartes, ça donne de très jolis fonds.
