Easy tuning with INAV | The Ez Tune

Ғылым және технология

Support my work / pawelspychalski
INAV get a new feature. It’s called the Ez Tune and it’s designed to greatly simplify the process of tuning your FPV drone with INAV 7. Instead of changing dozens of setting like PID gains, filter frequencies, etc., you have 8 sliders. Yes, it’s similar to Betaflight Simplified Tuning Sliders, but it’s more than that. It not only sets PID gains, but also multiple filters, rates and expo.
The Ez Tune will be available in INAV 7 that will be available in November 2023. All pilots are welcome to test the new feature and report their experience on INAV Discord server in #ez-tune channel.

    Ez Tune is indeed the next level of tuning a Multi-Rotor. Big thanks to the INAV devs for this! Unfortunately the stick command menu is still showing PID tuning manipulation even after enabling Ez Tune on a Flight Controller. It would be better if Ez Tune would be configurable via the stick command menu instead when it has been enabled. It would make tuning your drone SO easy as you could just run through the tuning process without ever taking off your goggles or having to remove the battery and/or connecting your flight controller to a PC between every change.

    Looking forward to Inav 7 . Having issues with my S800 in Inav 6.1 I didn’t have any with my first S800 in Inav 5 it flew slow fast and very noticeable flight control between modes. Auto launch is a dive into the ground but could launch it without auto launch. No change in ailervons travel in modes. Acro angle horizon and manual all the same and when it gets in the air even though there is plenty of travel it won’t fly well unless I go fast. I’ll move the control horn rods for more travel and use stiffer rods before I shelve the build . One other person had same issues with same wing. Thanks for your efforts in being part of the Inav team.

    I recently migrated from Betaflight to INAV7 and replicated the PID values, throttle limit (scale), and motor output limit settings from Betaflight. While these settings yielded excellent results in Betaflight, the same configuration in INAV7 caused serious control issues. The throttle stick became overly sensitive, making altitude control incredibly difficult. Additionally, the drone barely responded to sideways (pitch and roll) inputs in angle mode. Pitch and roll inputs in Horizon and acro modes exhibited exaggerated exponential responsiveness, leading to overall control responses that felt alarmingly unpredictable. Frustrated, I pushed through a few rounds of tuning, hoping for incremental improvements. Even though I managed some marginal improvements for the Angle mode experience, each tweak felt kind of insignificant, and the objective of replicating my Betaflight flight experience seemed to fade further with each attempt. Long story short, I am back in the Betaflight 4.5 firmware version, which fixed the GPS issue that was there in 4.4.3. Flying is fun, even though I miss the Alt-hold feature at times. I plan to re-attempt INAV7 tuning yet again when I will have more free time in the coming weeks.

    hello from france, im a beginner in flight controller and use Inav for wings, and betaflight for quad; why i do not know, i guess betaflight was more simple to use ; i was waiting for a new inav to swap all BF quad to Inav; i wait a little that you launch official inav 7 to to try; but well done! it smells very very very good. my main pb is to stop using horizon, switching to acro is far too difficult to master; any chance to get a parametric acro mode? i mean acro mode with a litlle "horizon mode" behind...able to make safer acro mode

  • @blueskyfpv

    @blueskyfpv

    5 ай бұрын

    Hiya. Basically horizon mode in quads is 'acro with a little stability'. Learning to fly acro is not really that hard. You can easily get the basics in a few hours on a simulator (up/down, forward flight and basic turns). You don't need to become a full freestyle or racing pilot, but being able to fly acro will make you a much better pilot overall, and is well worth the effort. Coordinated turns, flips and flops and crazy moves take a bit more time to learn, if that is what you want. I learned to fly basic acro in an afternoon on a simulator. My first real flight after that was so much more fun and comfortable. I'd highly recommend learning to fly in acro mode sooner rather than later. You don't need to fly in acro mode all the time, but being able to is an important skill.

    That's a great feature! But it's not clear for me how filter tuning works. EZ tune has only one filtering option: cut-off frequency. It looks like a LPF, but INav has a bunch of filters with different options: two LPF filters (with dynamic LPF option), Matrix Filter (2D/3D dynamic notch), Unicorn Filter (Kalman). How does the single slider work? I guess there are Matrix and/or Unicorn enabled by default with some typical settings and this slider configures LPF2. Or it's something more sophisticated?

    Good to ear that, i've done my first tuning with them on betaflight and it was so easier. I followed this tuto : kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZXiFptxvm9LFc5s.html I think i will put inav on my 7" quad instead of betaflight because i prefere to soft flight and get gps functions to rescuing ^^

    I will never try inav for drones until the compass will vanish from a basic rth requirement for drones 😂

    Inav is more of a nav software hence the name and if you want good nav as well as position hold etc. you need a compass. I even add compass to my Betaflight drones for better RTH performance.

    nope ... sorry but i did not like Ez Tune ... when you try to tune with PID Toolbox, you need other sliders (indeed same slider from Betaflight) I prefer to modify directly PID FF values than use the slider (in fact it's more accurate with Value than slider...) So please put a P/D balance and a master Multiplier. "this is the way" :) Chris Rosser and DZARO made some tutotials and explain the method to tune and Ez Tune is not a helper. Other thing : could you explain how to set "filters" and "mechanics" tab ? I did not find a "how-to" and did not find also how to see noise in Inav Betaflight... Keep going ; I like Inav for other things ;)
