This is a great idea. Having a 3mo old puppy and trying to put distance has been tough but I didn't think of this. Thank you!

Another great exercise! We will be trying this out today. Our morning "formal" training session is typically inside at this point. It will be interesting as my little Corgi is extremely food motivated and has been known to investigate the entire carpet to see if he missed a treat. I am going to be sure not to distribute the treats (probably only 3 pieces) too far so his focus comes back to me promptly.

Nate I love that you mention other trainers that are also on KZread. We all know when it comes to dog training there are a lot of conflicting opinions and trainers don’t always see eye to eye. It keeps me reminded that there are different ways to do things and ultimately, it comes down to what works for each dog.

THIS IS FANTASTIC. THANK YOU. GUESS I'LL JUST THROW A LOT OF FOOD ON THE GROUND AS IT'LL TAKE ME A BIT TO WALK WITH A WALKER TO GET THE DISTANCE, BUT I LOVE THIS LESSON. THANKS SO MUCH!

It's great that you show all trainers dogs come. But I wish you would show how to get them to come to you when they dont come. That is the problem with my dog.

Great video. I love watching all of yours. They are so informative. One question, why at the beginning of this series did you have more people with dogs training? Did some of them drop out? Or are they just not being filmed?

Hey could you please do some videos working with older Labrador retrievers please. I have a very stubborn lab she is almost impossible to train.

This is great. An E collar could also be used as a reinforcement. In my humble opinion.

Yes! An e-collar is highly recommended, especially for off-leash reliability! Cheers! :)

I have a 2yr old border collie bitch. I would say she has high anxiety in high stimulation situations or exciting situations ie another dog enters the park. We had a ‘fairly’ good ‘come’ command when not stimulated else where but lately she has taken to not even take notice with the recall from a distance. I agree my recall training has failed. Should I use another commend now when starting all over again as I have heard that when ‘come’ has been practised to be ignored you need a new word. I’m so disappointed that after two years we have ended up to never be trusted off a long line.

Why don’t you just give him the treat when he comes to you? Rather than saying free and giving it to him off to the side? This doesn’t make sense to me.
