Easy Trick to Move Liquid From Place to Place - 100% DIY

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Using a syphon (or siphon) is an easy way to move liquid from place to place without using a pump. It relies on the assumption that the liquid you want to move is higher than the location you're moving it to. The liquid will travel uphill, as long as the final destination is lower than the beginning level. This syphon has many uses and most importantly it is very easy to build with the help of some raw materials that are in every home.

I know what a siphon is, but how does this pump work? I would have expected two one-way valves.

You create a vacuum by crushing the bottle and letting it expand. If you block one end to make it airtight, the vacuum will suck in liquid. Then simply release the other end of the hose and it'll flow.

Does the suction always have to be higher than the outlet or can i raise it after it starts pumping??? Thank you

I tried but the glue(hot glue) will not stick to the hose? Type of glue and hose material type you using? Thanks

Try using sandpaper to rough it up or cut little lines for the glue to hold onto... thinking it might be to smooth or if got something on it then sandpaper should take it off

Much easier and safer to drill the cap while it's screwed on the bottle 😉

Needed to move 15 gallons of Diesel from boat fuel tank down to three 5-gallon gas containers. Boat tank was three feet higher than gas containers. Attempted this bottle technique and this did not work. Would not get fuel moving. I used 1/2 inch fuel line and silicone to seal any gaps. Despite being meticulous with sealing any possible air leakage, this still did not work.

If you have a compressor handy try this: Drill a hole the size of your air nozzle tipabout 6" from the end of the hose on the end you want the fuel to come out of. Put one end in the fuel tank and the other in the container. Insert the air nozzle into the small hole and squeeze the trigger. The moving air will create a vacuum and should start the siphon process. Once liquid is flowing you don't need to keep using the air gun.

The bottle doesn't have enough structural integrity to open itself back up to create the suction needed to lift. This probably barely works

If you use food safe plastics and sanitize, then yes. Might want to sand down your burs to avoid giving bacteria a good place to colonize.
