Hey nate I have one question for you , which federer forehand is the best the one from 2006 or 2013 or 2017.

Great question and a tough one to answer. His forehand was most effective in 2006, so I would have to say it wins but this was also prime Fed so tough to say if his forehand was superior or he was simply on top of his game. The technical changes via 2013 made sense and the vast majority of the tour would have killed for his forehand but it was obvious at that time he had lost a little bit of a step thus effecting his forehand.

Does this translate to the 1H/2H topspin backhand?

Love you guys, but where has this tip been before? I sort of "discovered" it on my own by watching slo-mo videos of Djokovic's BACKHAND wrist flex that points the racquet tip downward prior to swinging up and through to contact and I was working on translating this to my own forehand with good results, but why is this wrist flex move not taught as a basic part of the forehand? Again, great tips, as usual. Thanks.

Hey James, hope you're well. I think it's often overlooked because it's a byproduct of tension or a lack thereof. If the hand is relaxed the rackets weight will dictate and the head will effortlessly fall below the hand. We we're definitely long overdo putting a focus on the joint position though. Sounds like you're on it on both wings, forehand and backhand!

@@Playyourcourt Hey guys, great tips and hope you might still see my question even though this video dropped originally a year ago now. Isn’t the amount of racquet drop quite a bit less on a forehand vs. The two-handed backhand? It seems you see much more drop on lower balls as well. Lastly, in watching quite a few of your videos (all great by the way) it seems Nate has much more of a drop than Scott. Is this the difference between Nate’s modern forehand vs. Scott having more of a next gen forehand (where they almost pull the racquet head forward completely laterally), often described as keeping the entire swing above a hip full of water.

Keep the racket below the hand at contact?

Yeah I’m confused. I can see on low balls but regular height you would think racquet and wrist should be parallel to net at contact. Weird

Not at the actual contact point but on the forward swing. At contact he racket will largely be flush with the ball. The low to high swing path and joint position of the racket below the hand will create the topspin however. Hope this helps clarify things. Thanks for watching!

And, you have to load your right leg (if RH) as well as early unit turn.
