    Great video as always sir. I also found an easy way to make miniature barrels (I work at a hardware store so I have a lot of places to look for inspiration). Those small wooden plugs you use to cap off holes in wood projects are tapered on the ends and are almost the perfect size on a miniature scale. If you glue them end to end you get a good barrel shape and works great if you need to make a bunch.

    I just did my first barrell and it doesn';t look anywhere near as good as his but they are still barrells (typing this as they dry). Remember, you're going to be proud of your first one no matter what, and whether they're perfect or not doesn't matter, as long as they look like barrells and enhance your game

    You have got to love a guy like this who can create wonderful things, but twice call a nut a bolt.

  • @michaels728
    @michaels7283 жыл бұрын

    What you shouldve done was before you closed the barrel completely. Take your 2 disks and glue them on the inside along the folded crease edge, rather than on the top. So that way the disks look like the recess lid and edge top of the barrels. And its a nut not a bolt you glued inside. Also keep in mind the larger wide barrel you want to make the more slats youll need to use to make a big fat wide barrel. You can use wood dowels and cut to length then sand them down on a belt sander or something for the flared top and bottom. Then use a wood hot iron carving tool with a fine tip, burn the grooves along the sides of the dowel to create your barrel slats. And if you really want to be more creative use a Dremel with a round grinding stone, grind down just a little bit on the ends in the center that is small enough for the recess lid at the top and bottom. Then use the wood carving iron again to make the slats in the lids. Once your done use any wood stain for your base color to bring out the real natural look of the wood before you paint any highlights to the barrels. Then using the same technique of using the card stock paper for your iron bands place them on as well. And your done.

  • @SilentSooYun
    @SilentSooYun6 жыл бұрын

    A better technique for installing the nut might be to use a bolt. Just thread the nut on a couple turns (very loose, but not TOO loose), hot glue the nut, then use the bolt to shove it into the barrel. When the glue sets in a couple seconds, unscrew the bolt and move on to the next barrel.

    I don't know if you did one on sacks/bags already, but if you haven't: Wouldn't those little silicate pouches they put in pill bottles work?

    Is this on the cardboard lines or between them that we are marking and cutting one layer deep on?

    between the corrugations...one side of the cardboard it is usually easier to see the corrugation lines.

    In your Tilescape introduction you have a giant mead barrel, does this just upscale for that or is it a bit more involved? Reason I ask is I'm building a tavern and it would be epic WIN to have several of those around.

    It is actually a cast model but you could easily upscale this build.

    I found another way to make barrels. Hobby Lobby sells 28mm sized barrels called "Pickle barrels." Buy em. Paint em up. www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Wood-Crafting/Unfinished-Wood/7-8-Birch-Mini-Pickle-Barrels/p/20792

    theDMsCraft Yeah, your method may be cheaper too. The Hobby Lobby I went to is pretty far away but it was worth it. I hope I'm not robbing the spotlight from ya, Scotty!
