Yep, I've had the 'purple' tint issue too! I've noticed the 'purple' also tends to dry out my hair. Started back using a vinegar rinse like I used to years ago; your method looks very simple and efficient; Since I'm only doing the vinegar bath once a week, I will likely throw this in as a midweek treatment. Since I have a private well, I am always fighting the brass.

Great tips. However, I have used nothing but baking soda & water to wash my hair for years. After a very THROUGH rinsing I condition with apple cider vinegar. (The vinegar scent fades) This leaves my hair clean & fresh smelling. This also leaves my salt & pepper hair shining.

I tried baking soda washing and apple cider vinegar rinsing and it made my hair look yellowish-not severely but not sparkling white like the blue shampoos/blue conditioners. I may try again and use white vinegar perhaps with better results. Also one has to consider the water in the area which may be the culprit in my yellowish hair results 🤷🏼‍♀️

I like your tip.. For years I have added a handful of baking soda to my shampoo in my hand every week. The scrubbing of the soda strips out all the hairspray and styling products leaving you with hair full of volume and no yellow. It does make hair dry, so conditioner is needed. I like your idea.. keep one bottle without soda for in-between shampoos! Thanks Sharon!! Stay safe and well!

Thank you very much for posting this video! I’m in the process of trying this out and love the idea that it is cheap and easy to add to a morning routine. QUESTION: Can I apply the baking soda -. several times in 1 day - in order to get rid of the yellowing and then continue using it weekly as a maintainer? I’ve done one treatment, leaving it on for 10 mins and it only seemed to lighten the yellow. Look forward to your reply/suggestions if you have time. Take care and thanks again!

I may give this a try but I was looking for a no commercial shampoo way to wash my grey hair. I’ve been using blue shampoos and blue conditioners for years but even using once a week my scalp is so dry. I have never had any issue with blue tint to my hair and I’ve used many brands through the years (purchased at the drug store or Walmart etc-aka no expensive salon shampoos). Maybe this happened when there is still chemically colored hair because they would leave the hair stripped and porous. One of those pictures I’ll wager that person dyed her hair grey during that little grey hair trend a few years ago. Thank you and I may give your recipe a try! I simply want to use less/no chemicals. 💖

i just went grey during the pandemic and i have very hard well water. My hair doesn't look grey - it looks dirty blonde. I don't want dirty blonde hair. Purple shampoos seem to be the go-to and I've tried SO SO MANY of them and they didn't work on me! I thought going grey was going to be less maintenance than coloring myhair and worrying about the roots but I've been working so hard to get clean bright silver it's so frustrating. I'm going to have to try this and use bottled water to rinse otherwise I'm fighting a losing battle with my water ! and yes I have a filter on my shower head that I change regularly. So frustrating.

Hi, Christine, I am going through the same thing as you. My grey hair is yellowing from the community well water (which I suspect has a lot of chlorine in it). I have tried everything (even harsh chemicals). I finally tried the baking soda (thanks to this video !) however it didn’t seem to work, maybe lightened it a bit. So, as Sharon said it might take a few times - I will try it again. I DON’T KNOW if you can try this back-to-back or if you have to wait a few days in between. Yes, this is frustrating! I have a salt water system which I turned up recently to see if it would help and I’ll be purchasing a shower head filter tomorrow. I wish you luck! - Please do an update and let us know how it’s going. I’ll try and do the same.

So what's wrong with yellow? I don't understand this desire to mess with graying hair. Who came up with this? And why? Reminds me of the eyebrow craze, just lemmings throwing time and money at nothing.
