When I was a kid, we would each make our own. I put in mine, 1 whole ear, broccoli, mushrooms, 5:55 a very small piece of steak, and potatoes. My brother's was the complete opposite, potatoes, corn, and steak strips. Mom had the chicken and dad had both. Lol. The perfect meal.

When we were young kids at camp, we would make these on our off-site overnight camping trips! We used hamburger carrots, potatoes, and onions season em' up and put them on the campfire! Although we didn't have all the great ingredients showcased here... they were still the best ever! Thanks for the memories and the recipe! 🫶🏾😊

When i was a girlscout we did these too. We'd also core apples and peel them. Then put pieces of butter and some cinnamon and sugar in the cored center. And we'd sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top. Cover in foil and put them in the campfire with our hobo packs. We did hobo packs with ground beef (shaped like little meat loaves or patties) and veggies, with seasonings, etc in the fire as well.
As a working mother, I'm always looking for something good and tasty for my family. Thank for sharing

When I was 8 or 9, we made 5:19 these on a Girl Scout camp out. We called the Foil Dinners. All we used was a hamburger meat patty, sliced carrots, and roughly cut potatoes. Plus some salt and pepper. We cooked them in the coals of our fire and they were delicious! After I was back home with my family, my mom would let me make these for our family! I felt so proud and grown up! Of course we had Some-mores for dessert! ❤️

Yeah. The amount of aluminum that would leach from this is monumental. NOT Good grief. If your home is perfect without air fresheners, scented body washes, scented lotions, scented laundry, fabric softeners, carpeting, if you car has one of those hanging scent things, if you spray your home for bugs - I could on for quite a while - anyone's concern about the minute exposure to aluminum from this is absurd.

My family make these with hamburger, potatoes, onion, carrots, green beans and whatever you can find out in the garden--we call them "hobo dinners". And it isn't always the same as it started as whatever a hobo could find--with the exception of the hamburger. Hobos might have used rabbit or squirrel...
