EASY PEASY BLENDER MUFFINS
INGREDIENTS
⅓ c. cashews
1 ¼ c. water
1 ½ c. GF flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
1 tbsp coconut sugar
Dash of sea salt
METHOD
Preheat oven to 375°.
In a high-speed blender, blend cashews and water until very smooth. Add remaining ingredients and blend again until smooth. This may work in a food processor as well.
Fill six cups of a muffin tin with batter, filling it almost to the top. Bake for 17-19 minutes.
Cool for 10 minutes before eating. Top with vegan butter and jam.
BLACK BEAN FALAFEL
INGREDIENTS
3 c. cooked black beans (or 2 cans)
Large handful cilantro
Large handful parsley
Large handful spinach
2 cloves garlic
2 tsp cumin
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 c. GF flour
METHOD
Preheat oven to 400°.
In a food processor, combine all ingredients until smooth. You may need to add ingredients in slowly if you have a small food processor like mine! I also had to add a little water to get mine going, poor guy.
Form falafel patties using two spoons. I tried it with my hands first and it was too damn sticky. This makes about 15 falafels.
Bake for 12 minutes. Flip, and then bake for another 12 minutes.
GUAC + DIPPERS
INGREDIENTS
1 avocado
½ lime, juiced
½ tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
+ your choice of dippers
METHOD
Mash avocado and add lime juice, garlic powder, and salt.
Serve with veggies and chips.
CREAMIEST ICE CREAM
INGREDIENTS
1 can of full fat coconut milk
A splash of almond milk (or other plant milk)
A glug of maple syrup
½ tsp vanilla extract
METHOD
Freeze the coconut milk in an ice cube tray overnight.
In a high-speed blender, blend coconut milk ice cubes, almond milk, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Put ice cream in a bowl and then in a freezer to harden slightly for 5-10 minutes.
DATE FUDGE SAUCE
INGREDIENTS
2 c. pitted dates
1 heaping tbsp chocolate powder
Water to meet consistency (I used maybe ¾ cup)
METHOD
In a high-speed blender, blend all ingredients until very smooth and saucy. Add a little water at a time so as not to add too much.

S M it’s a really good question 😬 I do smoothies made w soy milk (9g protein per cup) and add powdered peanut butter and hemp seeds. Hummus and anything. I’ve been loving using Just Egg and making like a just egg on toast. Oatmeal with flaxseeds. Good old fashioned protein bars. Tofu lettuce wraps. Baked beans. Those are some of my go tos. Essentially if you focus the meal or snack on a legume or similar protein substitute, especially if you add a whole grain, you’re hitting 20g of protein with ease 😬 but at this point in my vegan journey I just made sure every single meal has some sort of good protein focused component for optimum satiation.

Oooo some other good high protein foods are quinoa, seeds - think sunflower, hemp, chia, or pumpkin - nutritional yeast. There are some vegan body builders you could check out on KZread for protein ideas. Unnatural Vegans also has some videos about getting in good protein.

Claire, with all due respect, Hannah did make several things that were high protein and the additional things like apples, fruits, vegetables added even further to the protein. I have been plant based for about 20 years (and I can tell you the products have come a very long way). I don't like the label "vegan", because it forces you into a persona/box so I have always referred to myself a plant based. I try to be"intuitive" about my need for protein, my body will typically tell me when I need to ramp up my protein (however, probably not a good idea when you're pregnant). We non-pregnant folks need far less protein than we think. Also, she is trying to simultaneously feature the new Target line. I have not been to Target in a while and I'm for sure interested, so I'm glad that she featured their products.

Erica Ramos Augusto it’s because Ellen and Hannah always say that you can get enough protein just from plants as long as you eat enough calories but it just isn’t true. You can eat enough on a vegan diet and still be deficient. You need to be adamant about eating enough protein specifically.

I’m a little confused how some of these could be considered high protein? Guacamole & veggies aren’t very high in protein and neither is coconut milk from my research. If you make another video about protein again, could you do a break down of how these are high protein? I feel like some of these snacks are a misleading.

I don't see how is high protein 1 tbsp of almond butter (8grs), gf flour is basically refined starches, the cashews divided into 6 muffins is low as well, guac or coconut milk are negligible sources of protein...If course everything has protein but most of these foods barely per serving. Yes spinach is very high in protein but you would need to eat a huge amount, which is not the case here.

Spinach can’t be “very high” in protein as you say because 100g of spinach contains 2.9g. No one could eat cups and cups of spinach easily even if it were blended. Nut butters are FAT sources not good sources of protein. They do happen to have some protein, but it’s not the main macronutrient. 2 tablespoons of peanut butter has 8 grams of protein to 16 grams of fat. A half cup of black beans has roughly the same protein and hardly any fat. Beans are carbohydrate heavy too. Just be aware of what you’re highlighting about foods.

That depends on your body /DNA. Some bodies are able to handle the vegan diet. I've been a vegetarian for years but had to stop as my body couldn't cope anymore. Just check your blood regularly and see how your body is doing :) as long as you don't have to take supplements it means that your body can cope with it.

I chronometered some of them. Far from high protein, as a lot of us said. I did the caramel sauce which seemed like a good idea. It was delish but I did jazz up the coconut ice cream because yours seemed too straight to the point. I enjoy your personnality and humour, that you advocate for veganism, but you don't do food right it was cringy to watch, I could hear the anti-vegans confirming their bias... I am a health oriented vegan too, but these did not do it for me.

There are some comments asking if these are really high protein snacks, which is valid. If you've been following Hannah for a while, these are definitely high protein for her 😅. Real talk, a girl can't do everything, so I can't fault her for maaaaybe mislabling a few of these. She's a dear and I stan. If you are curious about some additional high protein snacks, think nuts, seeds, legumes, and nutritional yeast. Nitrogen rich plants are where the protein is at. A good source is anything that can give you 8g of protein in 1 serving. And don't forget to obtain all your amino acids throughout the day! Hope this helps.
