I’ve seen pretty good Mac and cheeses in my life but THIS is the best one, it’s literally perfect.

I made it and it tasted great! Better than a bechamel sauce version I made before :)

This is such a clever recipe! I love that this method doesn''t need you to make a roux or a béchamel sauce. And I also LOVE that it doesn't have weird stuff in it, like evaporated milk, that I've seen others recommend. I find the idea of putting evaporated milk in mac and cheese a bit unpleasant! LOL!

I make regular and vegan Mac and cheese this way for years and it's nice to see others finally doing this way easier less pots

Excellent and simple recipe. I love that you don't use a roux for this recipe, as this adds more carbs as needed. Also, I don't like sauces made with a roux too much. The trick with the American cheese plus the starchy water is the best trick to get a silky and smooth sauce. I think about roast some panko breadcrumbs before, make the M&C and then transfer into a baking dish with some shredded cheese to overbake. Oh, yeah… sounds like food po*n to me 🙂YUM!

People always rag on the processed cheese slices and I can understand it to a degree if you use too much and no proper cheese with it, but I love a couple slices melted into my cheese sauce for pasta bakes

Oh yes, for sure. What most people don’t realise is that processed cheese slices are just Cheddar cheese, plus some ingredients to help it melt nicely. Nothing wrong with it at all. It is “real cheese”. And in fact, it’s hard to beat on a burger, in my opinion!

I can't wait to make this!!! Looks delicious and perfectly homemade, for those of us who don't like sharp cheddar, what other kinds of cheese can we use?
