the simple tip of adding hairspray beforen brushing it out, then teasing it before putting it up was really the gamechanger. ive never seen those tips before

No exaggeration, this video just changed my life. I’m 25 and have never mastered the messy bun. My thin, straight hair just does not like to bend, let alone “fluff.” Whatever that wrist motion is that Julia does as she wraps the band around the first time just changed the game for me. Feels good knowing I’m not the only one with super fine, thin hair that literally does not do anything!! It’s naturally pin straight too so it doesn’t even hold a curl! 😩

YES! I can have my hair in curlers, soaked in spray for 2 days and within an hour of taking it out it's nearly straight again 🙃

My hair is thin and very silky and I don’t like it:( and to make things worse it’s so straight so when it’s down it’s everywhere and when it’s up it falls out and never looks good

Hi Julia. You’re adorable! Thank you so much for this tutorial. It works great with my long, super straight fine hair.

I've tried a lot of methods and this is still the easiest and best. My hair is shorter and slightly thicker (or maybe just damaged from going blonde lol) and I like to use your exact method but with an "invisi-bobble", loosen it a bit and then tuck any floppy ends back under the hair tie. I also find if I first put it into a regular pony first and gently back comb the pony with my fingers before attempting the bun, it works great every time! No Bobby pins needed. :)

It turned out cute finally!!! I actually used dry shampoo instead of hair spray and it worked good on giving it some texture since when my hair is clean it’s harder to do if that makes sense

i went through each step right along with you and got near perfect results. simple tips, great outcomes! really good video.

I am 61 yrs old and fingers not as they were in my 20's, 30's or 40's so, have trouble with dexterity! Your vlog, I did it right, the 1st. try! However, I used dry shampoo in place of hair spray. Thank you....again!!

I just take a scrunchie, do a bunch of folding, and wrap the scrunchie around the mess I created. There’s my messy bun tutorial 🤪

speakingofbailey I much prefer scrunchies to elastic bands, any day. They barely pull out 1 or 2 single hairs or none at all. Compared to elastic bands, that end up ripping out at least 6, 8 or 10 hairs whilst trying to style it. And again afterwards, when trying to get the band out.

One of the best tutorials ever, I have really thick hair it's always got volume and nice waves so it still works on my hair but I don't have to tease it or anything. Thank You!! X

I never thought about looping it at the end like that! My mom taught me basically how to do a tight bun ig. I would wrap the elastic around once and have a ponytail then take the hair and wrap it around and use the elastic to hold it. I always hated that look and preferred to just have a ponytail but this is so much more simpler

I used to have SUPER thick hair, like it couldn't have possibly been any thicker. I used to complain cuz it would feel so heavy on my head. Now I miss it as life can be stressful & because of that my hair has gotten really thin over the past few years 😩 So I love that this tutorial is actually finally for someone with thin hair 💜

THANK YOU so much for this. I make sure I wrapped my hair with the tie every time I make a loop so that it creates a rounder shape. My hair's thinner and finer than yours and there are usually "bald" spots when I tie my hair. Does anyone have any tips other than using a hair product to cover it?

If the spots are not in places where you can arrange hair over them (and I am one of these people, I have traction alopecia over my left ear from too many years of super-tight ponytails and ballerina buns), the quickest fix is to find eyeshadow in a corresponding color to your hair and gently dot it onto your scalp with a blush brush. It does not rub off on anything and is a subtle and convincing solution. Hope this helps.

so good! I have thin curly hair...curly hair that isn't always pretty... I've been on no less than 6 medications at 1 time , so with that another other issues, My hair is probably damaged to a point ...I love you didn't add any Bobby pins. I always try to hide them , but never can because my hair is that thin. also the way you looped the pony tail around the 2nd time, not sure I'd ever seen it down like that ! this worked great 💕

I noticed the hairspray technique worked very well. My hair is curly if I style it a certain way but it's still fine despite me having a lot of hair. It's wavy normally. So yah sometimes it gets too slippy and the hairspray thing helped a lot!
