PRINTABLE RECIPE: 🖨️ adventuresofmel.com/instant-p... 🖨️
INGREDIENTS:
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium yellow onion, minced
1 pound sliced sausage link
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 cup long grain rice
1 cup frozen peas, thawed
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Before you even heat up your Instant Pot, be sure to prep your ingredients and have them ready to go.
2. Press “Sauté” on your Instant Pot.
3. Once it's heated up, add the olive oil, garlic, and onion, sautéing 'til they become soft.
4. Add in the sausage slices, and brown for a good 1 to 2 minutes.
5. Then sprinkle in the seasonings, and add the rice and chicken broth, mixing everything together.
6. Place the lid on your Instant Pot, set the valve to seal, and press “Manual” or “Pressure Cook” with a cook time of 5 minutes. Allow it to do a natural release.
7. Once it's released, go ahead and remove the lid, and stir in the thawed peas. Put the lid back on, and allow those peas to warm for about 5 minutes. No need to turn on the pot; just let everything sit in its own warmth.
8. Then stir and fluff the rice, and serve it up!

Thank You cheers from Pennsylvania Blessings 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
This is a great 'I am rushed' meal. I usually buy a few packages of kielbasa from ALDI and keep them in the freezer. They thaw quickly and the whole meal comes together quickly. I love the flavour and the dog tries to open the fridge door to steal leftovers. I may try the cajun spice as someone mentioned earlier for a little diversity.

That's awesome!! I'm so glad you like it.
Made as directed w/one or two exceptions out of necessity: no smoked paprika so I used a combination of paprika & Cajun seasoning. I love peas but substituted Lima beans as it's what I had on hand. Result: Really Tasty! Thanks for a simple, delicious recipe.

Made this last night!! So good and flavorful but omitted peas and added chicken ❤❤❤YUM
This looks delicious 😋😋
thank you for this recipe! i made some of my own mods like others: i browned the sausage slices first in the oil & then added the onion, garlic & green pepper, the water coming out of the onion will help to deglaze the bottom, make sure you scrape! for seasonings, i did sea salt, white pepper, paprika, cumin, garlic powder, cayenne & added 2 bay leaves before cooking. i had frozen okra so i did those instead of peas, came out very creole/cajun - loved it
I know the video is OLD, but i just made this as a QUICK Family Meal, its a KEEPER.. but gonna add some cooked chicken and/or shrimps, and definitely some spinach next time...This is almost like a short version of Jambalaya
Love! Riceland!!!
Made this yesterday and my family loved it.
Loved it so good. I just made it on the fly. Had to improvise a little bit. So good thank you.

Made this last night and it was so good. I sauteed half a green pepper added 1 tsp sazon and 1 tsp Adobo with cumin. Also used jalepeño beef sausages since that's what I had on hand. So easy, so quick. Thanks for sharing!!

You are absolutely fabulous. How often do you do your grocery shopping? Do you ever stock up on water? Can you possibly do some in store grocery shopping videos? It would be awesome if you could show your full shopping trip
@MelLockcuff

Thank you so much! Typically, I shop once a week, but we’ll do bulk shopping once a month or so. Sometimes I’ll add to our stock of water. Grocery shopping videos... I’ve considered doing them. Maybe I need to add those to the list.
Looks great, Mel. Gonna make it, for sure, but, with a few mods, if I may, e.g., saute/brown the sausage first, then add the onion and garlic (infuse and ramp up the flavor); don't forget to scrape the fond!. Then, I'll follow your directions. IMO, I wouldn't stir the ingredients (after adding the rice), but, rather, just submerge the rice to prevent possible burn notice. Looks great and a full meal, like you stated. Y'all Be Safe!

I did not know that Arkansas grew rice. I’ve seen it growing in Louisiana and Texas.
@MelLockcuff

Yes, rice makes up the state's second-highest-value commodity, and it's also Arkansas' top agricultural export. I've seen it growing just about everywhere when traveling through the eastern part of the state. Very fascinating...
If you put in double the ingredients do you add double the time or keep it the same?
@MelLockcuff

You can double the ingredients and cook the same way for the same amount of time. There is no need to double the cooking time.

Could you add the peas at the start ? I’m worried they wouldn’t be cooked Through
@MelLockcuff
2 жыл бұрын
David, this would likely turn the peas to mush. They have plenty of time to cook adding them in during the last step as the recipe states. I hope this helps.
If I double the recipe do I double the cook time?
