This stuff is invaluable!!! I've been playing for 15 years. I quit drinking 3 years ago and when I cleaned up I realized I had very little clue as to what I was doing outside keeping a tight rhythm and playing small fills, so I quit playing altogether. I recently picked up the guitar again and I'm determined to learn the instrument correctly this time so it all makes sense and I can technically let music play itself. The feeling I had is that something was missing which connected all the pieces together so it could flow. Stumbling across these tutorials is a blessing. I have to say I'm impressed with your professionalism and ability to break this information down in a manner that is easily digestible. I'm excited to learn music theory and technical applications, excited to play again. NOW if I can just work around all these bad habits I developed the first time around :D Thanks Steve!!

Steve, you absolutely rock! I'm a classic rock cover solo who's been gigging since I was young and thin - 42 years. Being mostly self taught, I never learned the theory behind what I was playing. But you changed that amigo! I have learned more about theory in the last week than I have my entire performing life! You connected so many dots for me a can't even tell you. I had no idea had much I didn't, OR how much I knew but didn't know I knew it!! You've made me a better musician and, as I move from the cover scene to the original music arena, 'you've already improved me songwriting. Amazing. You're a fantastic teacher. Thanks, and keep those vids coming!! ScottyP, Tucson

There's no sharp/flat between b/c or e/f so take that into account, your losing a half step between those 2 sets of notes/chords that you have between all the others. Hope that helps.

I have been exposed to these concepts in a variety of different ways over the years. But they never took, uh, root, in my mind. But the way you've broken it down and explained it, makes it so easy to grasp. Thank you. You're a great teacher.

Two minutes in and I was already inspired to write a song. Great for relearning info I had lost prior.

You are so awesome! You answered all the questions I had in my head...and then some! I cant believe any other enthusiast or teacher I have used, could explain this to me so simply, methodical and riveting. I am a fan, you have a convert! I am right handed, but taught myself left handed on an American Standard Fender Telecaster. I love my baby (tele), and you have given me more enthusiasm for my "Passion for Life". I thank you sir.

First video of Steves I ever watch a year plus and at least 6 coures later, cant see working with anyone else, Not sayaing there arent any other good instructors but with Steve i get it, the breakdown follows a logical order with just the depth needed for a subject that i understand the concept enough to apply and use. in a past life i was an instructor, course design instructor and test administrator / proctor for Dept of the Army, I dont remember ever seeing or working with any instructors that focus not only on the subject but also the learners capabilities, directions and influences Thanks Steve youre an excellent teacher and motivator. I'm just starting guitar but I've had a handle on music theory but never knew the why behind all of it and knowing why helps everything to make sense now. The way you explain things makes everything easier than I've set it out to be, so thank you for your videos!!

Just wanted to mention that I have found your teaching one of the best. You have an ability to articulate the 'technical into non technical terms. you choose your words with the way Knofler or Gilmore would choose a note. Also the tempo in your teaching makes perfect sense. Non threatening but extremely powerful and effective. I am now on my way. Thanks, Steve! GC

Steve you should teach a course for guitar instructors. I have never seen one as clear and precise. I am not trying to butter you up, but it's like a God given gift you have.
