We learned early on not to ramble on. You only have to go back to some of our early videos and see how we've changed. They even annoy me when I watch them as we just spoke too much.

Hi Susan, this was a piece of fabric that we picked up from our local Spotlight store here in Australia. Unfortunately, it's no longer available.

I love this. Will any type of batting work for this? I have some but it doesn't seem to be as flat as yours. Mine is a tad bit fluffier. Can you tell me the type you purchase please

  • @alandacraft

Most battings should work for this. You just don't want to go too thick otherwise it will be a little bit too bulky.

Sew Nice! Do you have the information for that butterfly fabric so I could look it up and see if it is still in print and available for purchase? Thank you 🦋🌺

would this cover work well with a made from scratch journal, maybe with a Coptic stitch spine and cover?

  • @alandacraft

I haven't tried it but I cant see why not Kerry. You would have to take your measurements allowing for any extra thickness. We have the methodology for measuring a journal on the website . Here is the link. www.alandacraft.com/2016/08/14/fabric-journal-book-covers/ Would love to know how it turns out.

Why do you recommend only softcover journals? I have a hardback and was hoping to make a cover for it... Is there another method to making covers for hard journals?

  • @alandacraft

If your journal allows you to bend the covers backwards then you will be okay but if it doesn't then you will have a hard time trying to get the journal cover onto it.

Sorry. We purchased the fabric from our local Spotlight store here in Australia. It was for a lap quilt we made a couple of years ago so I doubt it would still be available.

I can't see why you couldn't hand sew it together, Jessica I use a machine because I’m not much of a hand sewer myself (rubbish at it actually). I do admire people who hand sew their projects.

The butterfly fabric is from our local Spotlight store here in Australia, but I doubt it is still available. And the fabric on the other journal is from the Moda Prints Charming range.

There is no standard size to cut the ribbon. It depends on the size of your journal as to how long they need to be. Here is a link to the written tutorial www.alandacraft.com/2016/08/14/fabric-journal-book-covers/
