The beads I used are from Darn Good Yarn, but any beads will work, they just need to add weight.

I recently made me a wrist distaff. I didn’t have big beads handy, so I tied big washers I did have on. It’s working really well for me!

My favorite distaff is an old wooden yard stick that has a hole in the top that I use for a ribbon to wrap around the fiber.

Thank you for this video. It is very informative and you created an easy to make item for holding the wool. I might actually try that once I actually get the hang of spinning. As for your wardrobe, I always think you look very presentable and lovely, but I know what you mean about not being purposeful with choices. If there are things you already have that you like and suit you, keep them regardless of where they come from as the money has already been spent. If it ain't broke and all. Upcycling and purchasing clothing from charity shops (we have a lot of those in the UK) or second hand stores is a good way to help the environment by keeping them out of landfill. Natural products are great but we also need to think about how items are made and their impact on the environment while wanting to look good. I got rid of a lot of clothes because they fit but didn't suit me, so I understand. It is also interesting to know how little stuff we really need and that people don't care about what we wear. Good luck with your journey!

huh, I've been using ziploc bags in my purse to hold my fiber when I bring my drop spindle out with me. That's mostly to keep my fiber clean since I'm also a forager and have a tendency to pluck particularly tempting seed pods off of business garden beds downtown.

Hi! Thank you so much for watching my video! I have a Louet Jr. carder. I have the older model but they still make them. I love the narrow size. It has been great for all kinds of batts from fine wool to textured batts with crazy add ins. Here is an affiliate link to Paradise Fibers if you want to see all the specs on it: bit.ly/2tOf2By

I just picked up a drop spindle and the wool getting in the way is a massive ordeal- i was wrapping it over and over my arm to try to get the long tail of roving out of the way. I needed a distaff! and i was very close to this kind of method, as i realized i couldnt walk away if i was tied into it. a bracelet like this would be a very natural step. The independent distaff post is (I think) a much harder leap in progression of wool management
