There are several reasons that a septic tank could be backing up in the house. In this video, we give a quick and easy solution when the back up is caused by a lack of separation between the inlet of the septic tank and the outlet. When there is not enough separation between the inlet and outlet, meaning that the outlet is too high, the water level in the tank will be too close to the inlet. This can cause a back up when the solid scum layer at the top of the tank builds up and clogs the plumbing line from the house.
