I've only be watercolor painting for a few weeks and while I can dream of concepts of what I want to paint, my skill level is far below where I want to go. At the age of 69 I'm desperate to make the most of my time in learning what I can! This video put me so far ahead and helped me complete a concept painting that I had started and then had no idea where to go. I had no idea you could push heavy watercolor paint so far. This almost looks like oil painting only better! It dries faster. I'm loving it. Thank you so much for this magnificent tutorial!!!!!! I didn't have your bleed free component so I just laid down my heavy colors and then pushed undiluted white watercolor paint into it. Looks delicious! I have the product on order now, but I couldn't wait for it. You inspired me to go wild or go home.
Many thanks Debra Lyn, for this new fun project. You have opened up a whole new fun world to me, realizing that beautiful art is achievable, even for a beginner. Absolutely love your style and attitude.

You blow every other water color artist out of the water….in my opinion, of course. I dream of the day when you will sell your paintings! I will be first in line….(no pressure of course). And, above all….I hope you are feeling better, and have a great doctor who is taking care of you. 😻😻😻
Beautiful colors- I love how you maintain intense colors yet using lots of water. Thank you for sharing your process as a springboard for us.

Thank you so much! The key is heavy consistency of paint, you can’t be stingy with the pigments, and you have to buy paints with high levels of intensity in there paints…Mijello is the best, hands down.
Gorgeous! Thank you for this wonderful tutorial ❤
Thanks you make it all achievable with your tutorial, your an inspiration ❤

Stunning! I may try this with hydrangeas. I have been struggling with loosening them up but still keeping them identifiable. Would love to see your hand at the hydrangeas. Love your confidence and your style. I am a late bloomer with watercolor at age 67. But I am absolutely addicted.
Lovely work as usual. I am a big fan of the Bleedproof white as well.

I love PhMartins! I’ve never used it this way, I use it a lot for small highlights, splattering snow or stars, painting snow clumps on leaves, etc. I’m def going to try this! I always pour a little out onto a palette or small bowl though…. If I dip my brush in there and it wasn’t quite clean…well if you contaminate it with pigment there’s no way to undo it. LOVE this effect, thanks for another great tutorial, Debra!❤
Amazing art 🥰

This technique is so inspiring. I like clouds and seascapes mostly. I might try this method but also using a palette knife.

This is really beautiful! Thank you for sharing your talent! Can white gouache be used instead of bleed-proof white?
@debralynrosenbachart

Yes of course! But I would mix a good bit of it up with water to make a nice heavy cream consistency. Don’t use a cheap one, make sure you use professional paints.

Wow, is all I can say! This is an amazing tutorial and I had my first go and it wasn't bad! I will be doing a series and hopefully I will loosen up. What size David Taylor brush are you using? I just bought the trio from Amazon and I'm waiting for them to arrive. Thank you so much, I'm so glad I found you.

Thanks so much! 😊 the containers are small ice buckets for cocktails, there midcentury. But there are other ice buckets on amazon, there great to use because the glass cleans up nicely and i love the handles for carrying the water to my workspace.
Very pretty! Would white gouache work as well? Thx.

Yes it will to a degree. But not like this BPW product.
Very nice! Please tell again what "white" product you were using.

What’s the big reason for using the bleed proof instead of say, white paint?
@marytesta3003
10 ай бұрын
Bleed proof doesn't spread like regular watercolor paint. Also when it's used on dry paint it doesn't seem to absorb the color I noticed.
Debra, did you know a substitute for the dr. Phil martins white product? Cause it seems that they sell just on US
@debralynrosenbachart

Hi Celina, the company told me it was white pigment and water, but it wasn’t a gouache. So, i guess you could make your own…or maybe use a tube of white watercolor and mix a bit of water in it and store in a tiny container.
Where can I buy bleedproof paint?
