What's up my friends! In this video, I wanted to cover my full wash day routine and curly hair routine but to make it extra special, I've used all drugstore curly hair products! I find the drugstore has some amazing curly hair products to help with volume, definition, frizz control and shine. I don't know about you, but I love a good defining cream, volumizing mousse and strong hold gel and I use a lot of product in my Type 2B/2C hair. So finding affordable haircare is important because I use A LOT of it when I style.
When I style my hair, I'm looking for longevity in my style, frizz control and definition for my ringlets. I hope you guys are able to take away some tips and find the products I use will also help with your hair styling needs. Please let me know if you have any questions for me about my curly hair, my perm or anything else!

    I love the Dove Amplified textures leave in conditioner for curly hair and the Mixed Chicks leave in used to be my favorite before I started bleaching and damaging my hair. I still like it but I need to use another moisturizing leave in or serum with it until my hair becomes not so fried 😭😅

    @@itsmimi3154 I’ve been wanting to try mixed chicks! Do you use an oil? I feel like it helps with moisture for me when my hair is feeling extra dry. I’ll put it in my hair at night & wash it out the next day!

    @@ByKristinaStudio yes, I use oil and serums. When my hair is bleached I notice that I get build up quicker because it’s so porous so I still use sulfate shampoo here and there because I’m using silicones. My favorite purple shampoo that has has to be used frequently also has sulfates. The mixed chicks brand is okay if you want light-medium hold and if your hair already has decent porosity. My hair needs more moisture so I’m finding it not working the same like before. When my hair was healthy and curly it used to work wonders. I can still use it but I end up detangling with something else first that gives me slip then I add the mixed chicks leave in. I haven’t really been scrunching it in. I mostly use it for slick back buns because my hair isn’t at a point where it looks good scrunched because my ends are still stringy and bleached damaged. Hopefully it will help and corporate better when I dye it back to my natural hair color 😭

    @@itsmimi3154 Aw man, yeah I used to have to change up my products when I was bleaching my hair a lot too. I've been giving it a break since I started to perm it because I'm afraid it's going to really take a toll on my hair if I do both! Thanks for the heads up on the hold for the mixed chicks products! I feel like all the gels I'm using right now are medium hold and I haven't found one that's a strong hold like Devacurl gel since I stopped using it bc of the whole scandal that went down last year 😕

    @@ByKristinaStudio I’ve tried a few devacurl products but always felt they’re overrated and could find comparable products at the drugstore. I remember a teacher of mine having really frizzy curly hair and coming to school one day with her curly hair styled nicely with defined curls. She told me she was using ouidad curl gel. I can’t remember if i ever tried it so I’ll probably buy that soon. Definitely don’t bleach on top of a perm lol. I’d rather have curls than bleach any day. 😎

    Have you tried styling in soaking wet hair? I’ve found with me I have to have dripping wet hair and use more product than I think I do. I never used to wear products that much so I had to experiment with how much to use! As far as the hair loss, I don’t think that’s common unless you mean when you’re detangling. For me, I lose a small ball of hair as I detangle in the shower

  • @ByKristinaStudio

    It could be the size rods you used that gave you a different effect - so more wavy than spirals! But I would suggest testing out scrunching your product in really well while your hair is soaking wet. And if that doesn’t work, use the finger cooling method! I did a recent video on how to do it!

    How do you use the not your mothers curl cream in the shower? Do you rinse it out? Does that mean the leave in also goes on in the shower. How important is the order of the products?

  • @ByKristinaStudio

    @ByKristinaStudio

    Жыл бұрын

    Nope, the defining cream stays in the hair! I'll wash my hair as usual and once it's clean, add the cream in wet hair that hasn't been wrung out. Leave-in is usually my first step after washing my hair. I don't always do the styling in the shower - sometimes I'll do it on wet hair in my bathroom. Not sure how important order is, but I've always done: leave-in, mousse, cream and then gel. Kind of in order of thickness of product and gel to seal it all in as the last step!

    You treat it similar to naturally curly hair and it behaves the same in that way. So if you want the full definition and style without frizz you’d have to add product
