    Great news! I just put this pattern on my Etsy store as some of you might prefer a written pattern. Come have a look: www.etsy.com/au/listing/1146602293/easy-beret-hat-crochet-pattern-size?ref=listings_manager_grid 💚💚 You can use any yarn and its recommended hook size for the pattern. If it starts to ruffle, switch to a bigger hook size.

    Hi I started making this lastnight, I skimmed the video and notice you said the hat is tight, is the pattern identical to this video ? meaning the hat will be tight. I know you said to add a few less rows but I worry that will wreak the shape of the hat, I really want to make this hat anyway can you please confirm if you have altered the pattern or have you made this with less rows does it wreak the shape?

  • @CherilynQ

    Hello! Thank you for asking! The written pattern is the refined version of the video but it will still state what the my video did differently to avoid confusion. Doing fewer rows at the brim barely changes the shape of the hat ( when you stop increasing changes it more) so no need to worry about that ☺️

    When I tried making the circle section of hat, like before decreasing, it gets all curvy and wavy like it’s not flat like in the video. Do you know a way to fix it? Should I start off with 12 stitches instead of 14?

  • @CherilynQ

    @CherilynQ

    3 ай бұрын

    It could be the hook or tension. I get why you suggested starting with 12. I think I initially tried 12 but it didn't lay flat as a circle. If you haven't frogged it, you can probably eyeball how many stitches you need to remove so you have an idea of whether to begin with 13 or 12. Hope this helps!

    Hi! This sounds like a good idea. Maybe I’ll make a tutorial 😊 But for now, you can first try experimenting moving each rnd 1 st to the right. If that doesn’t work, decrease 1 st at the beginning of each repeat section and increase 2 sts at the end.

    Hi, assuming his/her head is around 50 cm in circumference, which means 16 cm in diameter, you can follow the same increasing pattern until the circle is around 21-23 cm in diameter, do 1 more round without increase or decrease, and then start decreasing until the brim is around 14-15 cm in diameter (just a little tighter on the head). I think this will work fine and please feel free to let me know how it turns out 💕

    I've started this béret and I'm about 10 rounds in. The circle is a little wavy\curling but flattens out when I lay it flat. Should I be concerned? Will it be OK once I start decreasing? I'm worried that I started too tight. Or my yarn is too thick? It's DK. Ugh I don't know and I don't want to frog it incase it works out. It feels really thick and squishy and looks a lot thicker than yours. Is this right?

I'm gonna frog and try with a larger hook and loosen up my tension. Would you suggest any alternative to the bpdc? I think that's where I'm screwing up my tension cos it's such a fiddly stitch. Your yarn could be smaller than mine, but again you're using a smaller hook, so it's hard to say. If you follow the pattern exactly and your circle is close to what I have sizewise, then it could just be your hook; If your circle is way smaller than mine, then it's probably because your yarn is small too.

    My yarn calls for 4.5 mm. Idk if your hook is too small for your yarn, but using a smaller hook than the yarn calls for is one of the reasons why a circle ruffles. Another reason is your tension is too tight. You could fix it by: 1. switching to a bigger size hook 2. using loose tension 3. starting from beginning with 12 dc in magic ring (then follow the same inc/dec pattern) Hope this helps! ❤
