Garrett had to review the text on text (MOM) again to figure out what went wrong, it was the welding step. really love to be able to review past videos. Aso the Video with Joe was quite the story. I can compare his story with mine. Keep up the training videos and wed. night with Kate!!

Great project! I did the first couple with some Pergo I had laying around. I then tried a piece of red oak. Had lots of fuzzies that I had to sand off. Not sure why though, the I love you text didn't seem to cut deep enough though. I couldn't see a way to change that. Either way it's rustic I guess lol.
@IDCWoodcraft
2 жыл бұрын
Walter, ya man that Pergo is flat and true but once you start using woods like oak you run into different troubles. I hear rustic is really in right now so I think you're doing alright my friend!
Excellent video Garrett. I appreciate the time you take to present these. I have a question for you. I am seriously considering the purchase of a CNC and was wondering is down loading the trial version of V-carve would be a good idea prior to the purchase of the machine to start getting a feel for the program and starting that learning curve before I get the machine? What are your thoughts on that idea?
@IDCWoodcraft
Жыл бұрын
Darryl, that would be a great idea brother! You are going to be working in software a lot so getting up to speed as soon as possible is a great idea.

Great job! Do you have any videos that deal more with the finer details of the tool path end actual carving end of the project?? I have a OneFinity and seem to be missing something getting it from construction to final carve. Personally, I think my engineering background is causing me to over think the problem, but that's me!
@IDCWoodcraft

Hi JP. Yup. the engineer mind will do that. I have that type of video on the books to do. Beleive it or not, such cradle to grave videos are extremely time consuming...I'm talking 3-5 solid days (sometimes more) from shooting, reshooting, editing and such is complete.

Tom, great point brother! I will look into that.
Great video!!! Everything worked the next day when I tried it but one small part. When I weld top text and bottom text together it reverses the view for carving. I am using the letter F and Farrish as the top text. No matter what order I make the layers or what order or what order I copy them to merged text I always get the Big F over the Farrish? HELP....

Hi Darren. We had an email exchange over this. Without seeing the project, I cannot tell what is happening.
We ran this project several times and can't correct the bit climbing out of the pocket and skipping across the MOM section. Changed the home start and safe z heights with no change. What is the toolpath command to raise the bit to full height over the material before traveling?
@IDCWoodcraft
Жыл бұрын
Ernest, I think your problem is still in the safe z height brother. Try raising it to an inch above or higher. That will be your best bet!
If after you recalculated your tool paths and you were ready to resave the new ones just click save new the file .The screen will come up with the old toolpath and say one all ready exist. it then will ask if you want to replace it you click yes and you have now up dated to the new toolpath file. that is how I do it Jeff
