Try Martyr with Captain Marvel. Assuming you play Martyr first, at the end of the game her code to lose the game will kick in first. Then CM's will kick in, which will correct her move if it can. So you've got very versatile 8 power on auto

You can make it even better with M'Baku. I've seen a video where Martyr moved to lose the game and M'Baku jumped out of the deck to win it.

Would Martyr be more playable if it were: At the end of each turn, move to a location that LOSES you the game. (if possible)? In a way, it tries to make you lose priority at the end of each turn. Kinda like a conditional Ghost.

Her effect isn't the bad thing. The fact that she has as much power as an ant man or a hawkeye is the bad thing Her originally leaked version (*edit:2/6* iirc) was better because at least it was above the current ceiling for the cost

I wonder if Martyr could fit into a Tribunal deck - she can't move to lose you the game if her power's worth the same in every lane! As long as she's not in the Iron Man lane. Also, not that Tribunal is particularly interested in a 1/4, but, you know. I'm trying my best here.

Zoo's definitely underrated. I've been running my own zoo deck since Legion released, and it's done me very well

I am using her in the Kang + Strong Guy deck you posted recently over Echo. Nothing to lock down Martyr, and so far she hasn’t moved a single time. Played all evening. Climbed Infinite rank top 20k to top 10k. Martyr into Adam Warlock is some nice early game draw.

Everyone’s complaining about this week’s cache being bad. Nah I say rejoice. We get a full WEEK to save up our caches!

I think the best part of Martyr is watching streams and videos of content creators trying to make her relevant.

I think Firestar was going to be one of the main cards to bring value to Martyr, but now we have no idea if/when she’s coming out so I’m definitely passing on Martyr for now.

@@teddy4271 because Martyr is a 1 cost you can throw out on the pre Firestar turn that ends up becoming a 1-7 or a 1-9 if Firestar was Forged.

Martyr honestly has one of the better spotlight variants too. If it was decent I would buy it for 3k and get the variant. The 2-6 stat seemed interesting.

I still genuinely really like Martyr's design. It's really cool to see a card with an effect that will actively try to make you lose and seeing how people try to go around it.

I got her bc i need to open the spotlights for other cards, too. Im fine with her. I played a different zoo version that worked so so. Your deck seems better. She is funny to me. How is Martyr a 1/4? If she has the text "lose you the game", she should be the biggest 1 drop in MS. Minimally a 1/6 if you think this is easier to overcome vs Ebony Maw's restrictions

@@theozway Only gets worse if you don't do something to make her okay. Like lock her down with X, split her power with Tribunal, turn her off with Zero. If she had better stats she'd be pretty good using those methods. But as a 1/4 it feels totally useless to try those things.

martyr is a 1/4 solely because of the devs wanted to line up the stat line to match capt marvel. i assume they're probably going to buff it at least to a 1/5 or 1/6 in the near future

If you didn't know, Martyr is actually Phyla-Vell/Quasar. I still don't get why they named her like this.

I assume they plan on having another character as Quasar. Still, they could have called her just Phyla. Now I'm wondering if they will make Moondragon synergize with her.

I feel like the only combo for martyr that would make her feel not mediocre would be 1 martyr 2 viper 3 magik 4 wong 5 Mystique (plus a 1 or 2 drop?) And then either onslaught 6 or odin 7 with hazmat and Luke cage on the other turn (plus another 1, 2 or 3 drop).

I mean Martyr has a similar problem to Titania, and a similar solution in Zero. That being the case, Titania is then better being a 1/5. That said, she is a good early 4 to pad Knull in a destruction setup.

I can name multiple 1 drops that would make this deck better other than martyr lol

Definitely not. If you clog your opponent enough Martyr won't move, which defeats the point. Even if you don't clog your opponent though, and Martyr moves somewhere that loses them the game, they would've lost without the Martyr anyway. You're better off just sending over some low power junk instead (eg. A rock, The Hood, Black Widow, ect.)

Matyr might work in a toxic deck / viper combo sort of scenario

I think this card could be usable, but it'll surely give you anxiety.

I got Howard in a mystery spotlight and now I can tell that I'm not the owner of the worst card anymore lol

@@Naitlait_ur_mom I disagree, the ability is trash, who wants to lose a match? The ability I said would give you a chance to lose the match, but also possibly activate other move abilities, like Kraven. A power change only still leaves the card as a useless card

The name plate lights up when you have it. If you're currently winning on board then you get priority, although cards like ghost can override that. I'm not sure if straight ties are fully random, but you can at least tell what it decided via the nameplates glowing.

If she is an underwhelming card, then that's one thing - her making e.g. Shanna worse is usually more likely the part that annoys me with new releases like these.

I want Martyr simply because she kinda looks like a Sister of Battle but without the armor. It's a fitting name for one too. (P.s., i have no clue who martyr even is which is why i made the comparison, dont come at me pls)

Could just play her in Zoo like you would a Ebony Maw. Just Zero her and then you get 2/7 without the downsides. Zero is better with Maw in that combo but still.

You could always just pause between games if your attention span expires. Or if you don't care for Snap in particular do as you're doing. I don't play it myself, but the videos are entertaining. I personally hate YT shorts. It is hard enough searching for something good to watch without it ending way too quick.

I think folks might actually be underestimating the psychological effects Martyr is having on the opposition. Unless you, as the person playing her, makes a mistake, you're never going to try to create a situation where she screws you over. Meanwhile, your opponent is relying on her coming back to bite you and playing poorly due to it. It's created this weird effect where the deck is sitting at a surprising win rate, but she feels entirely cuttable from the deck. I haven't lost today with a deck that should definitely be underperforming what it is.

I like weird cards, but explicitly trying to lose you the game doesn't seem like the wacky fun I'm looking for.
