If you add baking soda it softens everything including the water. Soap and baking soda is really all you need
Yeah, it's called soaking. Our grandparents did it all the time. I'm sad that generations don't share their wisdom with each other. Young and old have a lot to share. And yet, youtube has replaced live interactions.

Yes but she's also using a dish soap that has degreaser in it. Dawn & the likes have degreaser in them. Our parents didn't use degreaser. They soaked and used a natural "degreaser" called distilled vinegar.

Literally what I’ve always done is use a wire wool scourer and dish soap. Works like a charm every time.
For me the hardest part is finding a vessel big enough to soak the parts as I have a range. It really is a good method and the results were impressive. ❤️🇬🇧

Buy a plastic storage box, label it something like "for soaking stuff" and use it only for food related items that get crud build up on them. I do this for soaking my fine china teacups and saucers and the big heavy items I have inherited mainly teapots and platters, soup tureen, etc. They need to be washed by hand often to prevent them from drying out and getting cracks or chips. The longer between dunks the more likely they are to become brittle. Blessings, Dot

I wasn't shocked because Dawn is a good product. They even use it to get the oil of the birds after oil spills.
You don’t need that much Dawn to clean a rack but great job either way.

I just soak them with degreaser, place it in a plastic bag for an hour, then take it to the nearest car wash, and power wash them with just water, works like a charm, and quickly!!!!
This is how I do mine. I clean them quite often, I don't wait for them to get dirty.
I'm ashamed to say this but that cleaner took off 6 years of gunk ;! I finally had help for the big jobs!
I use my hand Steamer! Works FABULOUS
I thought this was common knowledge?! 😆🤦🏻♀️ I’m sorry I had to laugh. I do that almost everyday. Any dishes and pans that have hard-to-remove food on them, I squirt a small amount of dawn and fill with hot water, let sit, bam. A lot of people use dawn to clean most things in their house, and it works like a charm, as usual.

I was just saying I need a way to clean my oven racks. Years ago I put hot water in tub with dryer sheets and it worked very well.
I have the easiest method ever. Step 1: Spray it with oven cleaner. Step 2: Then I get my husband to do it while I tell him how wonderful he is. Lol
This is awesome! I also just use vinegar and baking soda, and if you don't have a container large enough, you can soak paper towel in the mixture and wrap it around the rack, works like magic!

Do this but instead of using a sponge use a scrunged piece of aluminium foil, making it almost like a ball . It works MUCH BETTER and reaches those corners easier
Glad you use a bucket not a bathtub!

I soak things like big pots, pans and plastic bowls, lids that I dont put in dish washer to make cleaning easier. I thought everyone did this.
Gasp! You mean the hack to clean an oven rack is to actually clean it?! 🤯
Lay that rack down on your lawn overnight. In the morning, all the gunk washes right off. Some enzyme in the grass, reacts to break through the grime.
3 components: time, detergent, power If you increase the amount of any of them, your cleaning process will be faster.
What about dishwasher every 2 months?
That's crazy, I've been procrastinating cleaning my oven for over a month now. This morning I was thinking about cleaning my oven racks. I wonder if your other method is the dishwasher pods you showed in another video. I use softener with the same results.. 4 hrs soak time, wipe off…. Of course what I should do is just not be lazy and wipe it more regularly 😅 real life moment 😂
Take it outside. Get some oven cleaner put newspaper down use gloves. Spray the thing with oven spray wait an hour. Rinse off with hose. Perfect.
try oven cleaner, and then put it in a big trash bag and leave it for a few hours then use a wire wool device, or what you have to wash other dishes

Soak it in extremely hot water with the dish soap in the tub as soon as you get there, and clean it at the end. I soak mine for about an hour, gets pretty clean as long as the water is really hot!
I'll do that. Thank you much.
try a few drops of essential oils, like Clive or eucalyptus in your dish soap water. It cleans up so much faster, even for the stove top and grates and drip pans. A few minutes compared to twelve hours is a big difference. (Don't use essential oils in the washer, on the floor, or around pets.)
The blonde hair looks amazing on you!
Hi Melissa you mentioned you don't normally use the chemical oven cleaners on your oven due to safety hazards right?
Get a large black trash bag...pour in 1/2 cup ammonia...put your racks inside lay them down flat n seal overnight...in the morning...everything rinses right off!
I saw a person remove the build up grime off a ninja Foodi. After watching many people try, this was the best at cleaning it. Easy Off oven cleaner had worked the best at removing all the grease and built up grime. He put the grill inside a huge ziplock bag, then spayed the easy off cleaner. Zipped up the bag and left it over night and rinsed off the next morning bright and shining clean! No scrubbing needed. There’s a YT video on it.
I use oven cleaner on the racks...works like a charm...
Side note. LOVE the tile!
You dont need nearly thst much Dawn. 😂❤
I need that Black bucket!!!!
Laundry soap and soak in the tub scrub clean with a sos pad. Put a towel on bottom of tub so it don't get scratched.
Yep dish soap is the best to clean!! i even sprayed it on the stove top and everything wiped away so easy
Gotta try this… love your shower tile too!
Home Depot has a spray commercial oven cleaner that takes off everything easily. But you must follow directions. Ventilate after putting floor protection down on we are gloves, añd I soray, then LEAVE the house for a few hours. Looks brand new!!
Dish soap is my favorite thing to clean with because it works so well. I use it to clean my shower twice a week and it always looks amazing like no one ever uses the shower 😂 I put it in a spray bottle with a little water to make it easy to apply. Add a bleach tab if the shower is super dirty.

Dish soap is designed to be tough on oils and grime without damaging the patterns of the ceramic surfaces. It should work well on both tiles and glass. For glass surfaces that don't fog up put a small amount of dish soap on a dry cloth and rub all over then "polish" the glass. The soap will be a protective layer/coating on the glass. When you need to clean it use a wet cloth to clean up and then reapply a new coat of dish soap. The dish soap coating also makes a mirror much easier to clean if someone gets toothpaste or cosmetics on it. Blessings, Dot

I’ve been leaving the racks in oven while running self clean cycle for 9 yrs. They’re clean & fine. Just discovered tiny print yesterday: do not leave in oven during cleaning cycle 🤷♀️🤷♀️
I put my grimy grills in a hefty bag, add a little ammonia (it’s the vapor that works), tie the bag, leave it outside overnight. It’s a miracle. Layers of black gunk peel right off!

Takes the shiny finish off your racks. I regret doing this with my old stove.
I wonder why when I soaked my rack overnight it had rust spots. I'll never soak a rack overnight again. Pretty unfortunate
@dotcassilles1488

I would guess that when the rack was welded together the joins weren't as strong as normal. The stainless steel coating applied to the metal may have worn thru in the areas of the rack where you got rust developing. The older an oven is the more chance of developing rust even if you don't soak it. With the way ovens are made these days (with cheap materials, to increase the profit margin) even if you buy an expensive oven you are probably just paying for the brand name, not a higher quality of product.

Better to use regular ammonia in really hot water and then soak over night. I have used this for years and it works.
This is what that I was told 20 years ago was there about wrap your oven tray and newspaper get a large garbage bag and then get your ammonia poured outside and the bag over the newspaper and let it sit there for 24 hours then and only then do you take it out as a bag of the bag outside leave the newspaper in the garbage bag take your oven tray or trays and to the bathroom and shower them on and wipe them down and see what happens
These racks are amateurs. For unspeakable racks, shake open a trash bag. Lay it flat on the floor, insert the racks then spray the hell out of them with oven cleaner. Fold the open end under the racks. After 24 hrs carry the bag held flat to the hose. Set the bag down, pull the racks out then blast them with the hose. Perfect. What little is left will come off as you dry the racks. Carefully dispose of the bag.
I put racks in garbage bag, add ammonia, tie bag and let sit overnight. Gunk melts off.
I spray mine with oven cleaner and place it on an old plastic shower curtain. I leave it sit for a few hours and then I wash it off and I never have to scrub.
I put mine in the driveway, spray with oven cleaner, leave them for about an hour then hose them off. Repeat if necessary. No mess or fumes in the house!!
Nothing like a good Brillo to easy scrub all that grease off
I soak my dishes with dawn and makes doing the dishes SO MUCH EASIER.
Yup that's by design. Dawn is a detergent that uses grease emulsifiers as well as heavy surfactants to essentially peel away the grime.
I use the pink stuff works amazing
I'm a house cleaner and the easiest way that we clean it in minutes is spraying it down with easy off and letting it set for about 20-30 minutes while we clean the rest of the kitchen and go back and just wipe it right off
I put the rack inside a plastic garbage bag and then spray oven clean onto it inside the bag and leave it for a couple of hours then rinse.
Awesome, Thank you for sharing ❤️
Highly recommend using Cif / Jif !
I'll try that, I've got two racks that need that method thanks 👍💖💋
The spray soap cleans the inside of the oven better then oven cleaner.
Aways do this. Always! We have a travelbbq in our car and we always carry a little tub so we can soak it
I’ve used my bathtub.
