I love this. I bought two towel sheets to put over my recliner sofa on my camper but the towels won’t stay put. This is the perfect idea. Can’t wait to try it.

'too cool Jason, my nephew mentioned he just got a hold of a machine. I'm going to forward this video to him. May I suggest sewing a bit of a taper into the 'head rest area'? Then flip the cover inside out for a custom / finished look 😎 An short piece of broom stick pushed in at the bottom of the seat 'back' would keep things taught. Round over the ends of it smooth. Your channel is great and I always learn from it. thanks

Thanks! That's a great suggestion. I wanted to keep this project as simple as possible for a couple of reasons; one, to make it as approachable as possible for new sewists, and two, so I would actually finally do it lol. This simple approach does everything I need, and this is only on the seat on the way home from a run or paddle or whatever, then it goes right in the laundry for next time. But the beauty is, you can definitely run with this idea and make it as elaborate as you like! Thanks for being part of the channel!

ya, that's right - we'll suck the newbies into the hobby with something simple then Bam! They're hooked 😆 I repaired a folding sand chair for a buddy - He said he thought he was going to have to toss it. Then he made up a PVC frame for his canoe and I stitched up a sun shade with some Velcro. Between the welder - table saw - drill press - sheet metal shear & brake and sewing machine I'm a full service shop 😎 Keep making videos / I'll keep watching.

if you tuck it in between the seat and back, tuck in a rolled up newspaper (just a few pages doesn't need to be thick) along with it and it'll stay tucked in.

Glad you ended up finding it! I've used these a few times now and they've been great; only complex enough to do the required task, but still just a towel otherwise. Bonus benefit I didn't realize until after I published the video, the sewn-down fold-over allows the towel to be "Ranger rolled" for transport! Thanks for being part of the channel!

Oh wow, perfect idea for my truck. Living in Florida also, so paddle boarding and kayaking does get one wet.

Déjà vu for me, as I started from this *obvious" and easy alterations to more and more elaborate stuff. As complicated as necessary but keep it easy. Thanks!

I made something similar to go over our two Stressless chairs and footstools to protect the upholstery from too much sunlight. I used a couple IKEA thick fabric throws. I made the fold over bit a bit deeper so they didn't slip off when our cat chose to take a nap there, put a seam accros each corner at about a 45° angle at the top (to help centre them) and put a wide zigzag stitch along the top edge to aid in figuring out the orientation when picking them off the floor and putting them on at the end of the evening. They took no time at all to make and they do the job well.

Jason: Seems like this towel cover could go to another few upscale stages. Like a way to keep the bottom from moving off the seat. (tie downs?) or maybe slitting the top and sewing the opening so the head rest is not covered? I have seen lots of videos where you go from basic to moderate to ultimate extras on a project. I know I could do something with this but you and I think a bit differently. Thanks.

@@thejasonofalltrades Jason, I have been watching your channel for years now. Before you got your first Sailrite. Even before that. I think two moves of the workshop? Anyhow, one quick question. Your recent videos seem to be really over exposed. Not really a criticism, more like an observation. Is that intentional. Seems to go with the hot environment you live in. Just wondering. Thanks again.

It's mostly that I'm quite ignorant when it comes to camera settings. I use a Nikon D5300 as my main camera, and I am shamefully unaware of what settings work best. Sometimes I get lucky and the lighting and exposure agree with one another, other times not. I really need something more idiot-proof, or I need to get enthusiastic about camera operations. Or I need a camera crew 😂 Not to make excuses, but it doesn't help that the tiny monitor on the camera is really only useful for letting me see that I am in frame. I usually don't see other issues until I'm editing, and frankly I probably just don't notice many issues that others do. I actually get better video quality from my iPhone, but the sound is better on the Nikon with a shotgun mic, and importing (and shooting) the amount of video I typically shoot works better from an actual camera with an SD card for me. I appreciate the feedback, I really do want to make the best quality videos I can. Thanks!

So funny I made this exact same towel setup with the exact same sewing machine! I bought the machine to sew outdoor shades and often use it for free motion sewing because it's so fast.

Yeah, I intentionally wanted to keep this as simple as possible, in the hopes that maybe this will land in front of some folks who maybe haven't taken up sewing and being them into the community. I was also trying to make my most succinct video ever, so I didn't explain that fact lol. And the MINI is the best/worst car I have ever owned. I never pull into the garage sad on the days I drive it!

I got a new car and made a car seat cover. It turned out lovely... but I got worried about the airbags that are located IN the seat/back rest. So, I took it off and cut down key areas to ensure I was not impeding airbags and well.. it is not as good as when I first made it. Oh well, safety first.
