Easy Bass Arpeggios For Beginners

Музыка

Lesson Material: www.talkingbass.net/easy-bass...
So if you’re starting out as a bass player I’m sure you’ll have been told you need to learn your scales and yes, the basic major and minor scales are important when it comes to learning the fundamentals of music. But in terms of stuff you can apply in your everyday playing, it’s actually waaay more important to learn about chord tones.
We play bass lines through chord progressions so it’s important to learn what notes fit with those chords and to do this you need to learn arpeggios.
Today we’ll work through the two most common arpeggios, Major and Minor and have a little look at how they can work in a bass line.

1:43 - The Major Arpeggio
4:50 - The Minor Arpeggio

Mark, you're the greatest. I'm 70 years old and am fortunate that I began to learn the bass 5 years ago. There are many great internet learning tools in the 21st Century, but you are The GOAT for me. Even with all I've learned from you, I feel THIS lesson (though I already learned about appegios from you) will accelerate my goal of being able to play walking bass lines. Thanks, AGAIN.

Another fine lesson Mark! It's always good to address different skill levels, and this one is a great one for beginners. As you said, so many bass lines are built from arpeggios. And as an experienced players, its always good to go back to the basics and get a refresher. Cheers.

I never realized I could just do the minor 3th on the same string as the root note. This whole time I've been playing it on the same string as the 5th but now the minor arpeggio is a lot more easier

Is it crazy to say that I am learning the bass and know nothing about theory but while playing the bass I already play along with the root notes doing some arpeggios without even knowing I was doing it right, watching this video makes me happy bcuz I love the bass and I always thought theory would be really hard and would slow me down. But it’s the opposite

I know the answer is "PRACTICE" But I M much faster just using my index finger to pluck the strings is it normal for a beginner to have a slow middle finger. I would appreciate any tips, suggestions or exercises to help develop more speed with my middle digit

I know my comment is very late so I won’t be surprised if I don’t get a reply but I’m just confused about the f major arpeggio since you cannot go down a half step on the A string because F is the first note on the E string, if you understand what I just said you’re a genius because I explained that very badly

I really wanted to understand this video but once he got to the chord progressions, I got totally lost. Just showing the names of the chord progressions did not help me understand anything after about minute 9. And I’ve got about four months playing under my belt. I wish there were diagrams explaining where the notes are…
