Bacalaitos are a classic Puerto Rican street food, it is also known as one of the best Spanish appetizers. Its main ingredients are Flour, cod fish/pollock, sofrito and other spices.
This is my version of Bacalaitos, so crispy and tasty!
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups All Purpose flour
300 grams Salted cod/pollock fish
1/2 tsp. baking powder(optional)
1 packet of sazon(optional)
2 cups water(room temp.)- add 1/2 cup if you prefer a runny or liquidy batter
1/4 cup chopped onions (substitute with 1 tsp onion powder is no fresh onions)
1 tbsp. minced or crushed garlic(substitute with 1 tsp. garlic powder)
1/2 cup chopped cilantro(substiture with recao or parsley if no cilantro available)
1 tbsp- 1 1/2 tbsp. fresh sofrito (substitute with 1 tsp. sofrito powder or just a teaspoon of dried oregano if no sofrito available)
1 1/2 tsp. adobo seasoning( substitute with 1 tsp. salt if no adobo seasoning available)
1/2 tsp. black ground pepper
oil for frying
