EASY Atari Lynx LCD Screen Upgrade: A No-Solder "Drop-in" LCD Screen install!

Ғылым және технология

Looking for a NEW screen for your Atari Lynx 2? Last year I reviewed and installed a new LCD screen upgrade for the Atari Lynx II from BennVenn. That Atari Lynx screen upgrade was excellent BUT meant soldering a dozen or so wires.
Enter the new version of the screen. This new Lynx LCD screen can be installed with ZERO SOLDERING... Yes... No soldering required at all, and one optional wire if you choose...
BennVenn can be found here: bennvenn.myshopify.com/collec...

I bought one of these screens for my Lynx II back in March or April, but didn't have the nerve to install it until tonight. I girded my loins and gave it the proverbial whirl, using your video as a guide (as the kit didn't come with any instructions). Aside from trying to get my big meat hooks into some overly tight spaces, the installation was fairly straightforward. I didn't do the extra wire (I didn't have my soldering iron handy), but it's a night and day difference from the old screen. I want to thank you, wholeheartedly, not just for this video, but for all the instructive and entertaining videos you've done over the years that have helped countless people. I wish you and your family the best as you rebuild your life after the fire.

It might have had 16 bit hardware, but the screen resolution wasn't even as good as a 2600, that's why the games always looked blocky, they had a good amount of colors and a good deal of processing power, but with such low resolution the games were going to look blocky.

I suppose that was because it was built around the limits of the available screen technology back then. I don’t know for sure.

I just got the Lynx II Solderless Drop In LCD Kit - Infinite back light control - Revision6, and installed it just like you did, it went almost perfect, i had that some buttons did not work, and joystick was not working ok, it was the small Ribbon Cable, all traces were gone, so i cut the bad piece with a scissor and then put it back in, and now luckily everything is working great, and now all the games look fantastic, thanks for the great video guide.
