    Thank you so much Susan for your great Videos! I'm a longtime painter and have NEVER thought of photographing my colors and switching them into black and White just to see the values. So simple and so efficient!! Thank you so much!!!

    You seem to me to be a natural teacher. The way you use a word like “value” then immediately define it for us. As you move along the painting and give necessary tips for us to be more successful in our artistic journey. Love all,of the colors you use in this bright, sunshiny painting. Thank you for being you.

    A beautiful painting Susan! Showing the tonal values of the pastels is a great tip to use, if you photocopy a painting it'll also show any glaring errors tonally!!

    Thank you for this video. I am very very new to pastels, I have only done 3 pieces so far....but I do have the Paris collection - so I think I will try this. And I am beginning to think about becoming a Patreon member so that I can get the extended version of your tutorials. Thank you again. 🙏❤

    How do you choose which pastels to include in your limited palette? I love watching your process, it's very helpful!

  • @monetcafe

    @monetcafe

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Sarah, I choose pastels more by "value" (lightness to darkness), more than color. You need to have a range of values with a limited palette. For example, if you were going to limit your palette to only 8 pastels, it would be good to have 2 dark, 1 medium dark, 2 medium, 2 medium light and 1 light... (or something close to that). You can choose the colors with those values based on the image you would be painting. Hope that helps!

    Thank you for the tutorial 😊 I have the paris set, too, and often i have problems with layering them even on pastelmat. It's like the tooth of the paper is filled up even though i know it's not. Do you have any suggestions for me? Thanks!

  • @monetcafe

    @monetcafe

    🙂 🙂 🙂 ❤, @gaurimoghe1079 you absolutely can, but suggest doing an underpainting. This sets the "mood" of a piece, when you allow bits of the underpainting show through.

    What made you decide on red and orange for the backdrop? It always looks scary to me in the beginning but it always looks amazing when you're done. I'm struggling with what colors to do in the underpainting.

  • @monetcafe

    @monetcafe

    Жыл бұрын

    I remember when it was a little crazy for me to lay down and under painting color like that. But typically a good color to use for the underpainting is a color that is complementary to the main colors in the scene. In this case…. Because there were a lot of greens… A good complement would be orange or golden tones.☺️👍🏻

    Does anyone know if they have a patreon app to access via roku without having to buy a desktop or laptop computer?

  • @monetcafe

    @monetcafe

    Wow.... that's an interesting question. I don't think you can get Patreon as an app through Roku, but I found this. info online. But also, if you have any way to access a browser on your tv (Chrome, etcO), you can simply log in to my Patreon page that way. Play content from Patreon on your Roku device using the Plex server. Many Roku users use the Plex server to watch Patreon’s video content on their Roku device since the Plex app is available on the Roku Channel Store. You can easily add the Plex server app to your Roku device. And with the help of the Plex media server, you can watch the content downloaded from Patreon on your Roku TV.
