I really don't get why Mojang hates auto-fishing so much. fishing farms... not the infinite shulker shell farms, not the infinite food farms, not the tnt duping.. the auto-fishing. LOL. kudos for keeping to bring them back Ray.

They want things to have some kind of actual effort to set up for the reward output. Fishing farms have massive reward for little setup, while the others take a decent bit more work to set up

Except tnt duping. The reason they havent removed it is bc there's currently no other similar system in the game, and many many farms use this feature. They do t want to upset the farm makers and technical players before coming up with their own real solution that works for everyone

@@katekat7804 I mean there's also ender dragon egg duping, not too much effort to make many of something only supposed to exist a singular item. Auto fish farms (especially how they have to be made now) take quite a bit of work..besides the loot possible for them isn't really a "massive payoff for little work"..most things you can get from them you can get from villagers (besides saddles but why tf would you need a ton a saddles) waay easier! There's no excuse. They stopped auto fish farms for treasure, and not other crazy game breaking farms that literally dupe items You can literally make afk bartering farms for better loot that's harder to get anywhere else..yet they care about FISHING?

@@testerwulf3357 the ender dragon egg doesn’t do anything beyond being decoration… even with other gravity blocks, people mainly use the duping for sand, which currently doesn’t have any other automatic farm. Fishing still is little setup, for high rewards. Unlimited enchants, xp, and tons of items.

**IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE GETTTING IT TO WORK, READ THIS** I was having an issue where the skulk sensor was not hearing the bobber go down. I figured out why, it was the boats. The bottom boat was at the wrong Y level, which was throwing everything off. If you're wondering if this is the same issue you're having, look at 6:22 in the video. See the bottom boat, how the line is just barely above the water? The line on my bottom boat was just barely _under_ the water. Here's how to fix. Place the boat directly onto the chain. Do not place it on a block above, place it directly onto the chain. Do not climb in the boat and drive it to its location, stay outside and nudge it to its intended location. Some things like the boat falling or being driven will change how collisions are calculated. This will mean the boat is at a slightly lower level than it should be. This slight difference is enough to mess up the farm. You can see it with the line and the water, or you can jump on the boat and press F3 to see it. Standing on top of the boat, the bottom boat's Y value should be n.156525, not n.085969 or something. Side note: To get the top boat into place, it is easier to place the boat facing the opposite direction, and then drive the boat backwards. You go slower backwards than forwards, and it affords you enough control & slowness to do a decent job.

My method for alignment is to remove blocks on chain level, drive a boat into the 2x2 space on the chain, then place some blocks and turn forward to to those blocks. Then tap w and you slowly go on the water. Same for the top boat too. (I had to fix the boats too many times)

It was removed bc of it being possible to dupe on masse for any item. I wish they kept it in but i understand the implications for servers and survival multiplayer

@@katekat7804 What item can you dupe? are you just talking about fishing items? because you can already just spend time fishing or use an auto fishing mod, so it's not like it breaks multiplayer. It's not duping items in any way, it's just an efficient farm. If they're worried about balance, this is about 10x less broken than villager trading, and less broken than bamboo farms.

What else to say then love your Farm/Redstone skills!

This is a super tedious farm. My advice would be if you're having the sensor go nuts make sure your boat placement is top notch pixel perfect. I would also suggest the same for the bobber. This farm unlike many afk fish farms previously is super tricky. Dang Mojang, don't they know fishing is pointless if you can't afk it?

I really liked this fish farm, so you just gained a Subscriber.

I really like the little ray you added on the thumbnail, reminds me of old school Minecraft animations😂

Works for me flawlessly on my 1.20.1 survival server after adding the comparator addon shown in the last portion of the video, admittedly getting the boat out far enough but not too far so as to drop in the water did take a bit of trial and error, but didn't take longer than like 5 minutes since i dropped it in the water a few times. Only added higher fences with an overhang so spiders couldn't get in, and fencing around the boat bit more since somehow a creeper registered that area as a good time to blow up, so i fenced around that more

@@Pleshie The first time I fished, it works as it should, but as soon as I automatically throw the bobber using the trapdoor(with T+f3), the shulk sensor detects the bobbing, causing the trapdoor to constantly get triggered. I tried the world download, and it doesn't work there either. I am using Java version though, you are perhaps on bedrock?

@@Fiskarfred Nope, 1.20.1 java server. What you're supposed to do is shift + right click once on the chest where it shows in the video, then wait for the trap door to open and close twice, then let go of shift and start holding down right click. From there you can do the auto clicking. Are you making sure to do that? It sounds like you might just be clicking once and then immediately holding down rclick afterwards without giving time for the redstone to "set"

I got this to work finally! At first it worked fine but had issues running long-term. I’ve tried all the lag solving tips and that didn’t work. So then I tried this farm on different servers to which my connection strength differed, and on a local world. I still noticed that while lag made it harder to run long-term, it still did not completely solve the issue regardless of the variation on lag protection. In the end, I rebuilt the setup with particular attention to the boat’s hitboxes. Getting them both to have pixel perfect alignment against the dirt block/ chain and on the boat solved the issue permanently. I suggest anyone building the farm to invest the time into getting that alignment just right, and it will be worth it: For reference I spent 3 hours pushing the limit of pixel perfect alignment until I got it running indefinitely! Wouldn’t hurt to also add the lag protection measures if you feel it may be a problem.

if you need a ton of saddles, highly recommend stacking raid farms.. those things produce saddles like nobody's business

Do the beds have to be *super precise?* When I built this farm, my calibrator keeps going nuts. I have hitboxes on and it does show that the bobber is slightly moving up and down causing splash noise underneath the boat. Any advice?

i can confirm this works exactly as shown, though i prefer to cover the pond with glass on top of the fences, so the water still has sky access but spiders and phantoms can’t get in, kill you, and mess up your boats.

If you want to test this farm with the world downloaded, remember to change the gamemode to survival, otherwise the items will go into the void of creative mode. I have tested it on 10/26/2023 (1.20.2) and it still works. Thank you @RaysWorks!! Great job!

You said that 2 Blocks above need to be free. What exactly does minecraft check for? Do they need to equal air. Or is it like beacons where glass blocks are ok. As long as the sky can be seen? Would a string be ok?

firstly, thank you for a great tutorial 💚 everything works great, had issue with boats but its more a me problem than tutorial 😅 i have a question, it works rly good but for a short time, it stops after 15 minutes or so, bobber wont be thrown anymore and just constant throw animation without bobber being thrown, its a single player map, do u know what the issue is? and if it can be solved? either way thanks for the tutorial!

@@RaysWorks Ok, so scratch that last reply, somehow i fixed it by replacing the boats, one of the boats must of been like a millimeter too low causing the fishing rod to bounce, but not trigger the sculk sensor, by replacing the boats, the sensor now triggers again

1:26 I assume the furnace could be replaced with a lectern with a book turned to an appropriate page number?

Tips for people playing in a laptop 1) hold down the right click on the mouse 2)unplug the USB cable of the mouse while holding right click your click will still be on Context: I dont know if this works on windows 11 but it does on windows 10

It's a bit tricky to start but once you are correctly placed, yeah baby !

FYI, if you make this in the end, you dont have to worry about either lightning nor "mobs" (if you use blocks endermen cant pick up or get to) and phantoms

Mojang needs to make fishing fun, then no one will need AFK-farms! They also dont have the right to delete anyones video, except ones that cause damage by showing how to hack a server, get malware on someones PC and similar stuff!

I made the farm in a multiplayer world and the sensor goes off on the initial cast and then doesn't do anything after. I tried holding right click, tried F3+t with right click, no luck. Is this maybe fixable?

OMG THANKS, it's not so simple but it's VERY functional!!! The most difficult part is going to a deep dark just to get a skulk sensor💀

i made the farm and im on a multiplayer server, when it lags, i did the clock and everything but the hook still sometimes never latches onto the door or stays out under the boats, it just goes back to the swinging-looking action and never fixes itself. Should i just increase the time on the clock or am i missing something? Also, amazing farm, keep up the good work, thanks.

I have built it in 1.20.4 Java and just amke sure to place the Boast EXACTLY like in the video let them drop down, creep forwards ect DO NOT drive them ontop of each other only dropping works as i tested and place yourself like him in 7:30 good luck!

Does this farm have to be open to the sky? Because I have an underground base and I wanted to see if I could have mine underground as well.

I appreciate the intricate build to make AFK fishing possible. On updated single player, works for some time, but always ends up getting caught and casting then reeling the line back in when the trapdoor flaps. Tried everything said in the video and longer repeater chain. Any tips?

It really annoys me that Mojang went sooo out of their way to patch AFK fishing, but did absolutely nothing to actually make regular fishing more interesting. Typical Mojang.

Imo, would be interesting if fishing gave you unique loot depending on the biome you're in, which would give you motivation to maybe explore different biomes and stop for a moment to fish. And the worst part is that this feature has been implemented ages ago, since you can catch bamboo only if you're fishing in jungles, but that's literally the only thing that they ever did with it, and the only use this has is in trivia quizzes or smth.

If F3+P doesn't work, go to the options.txt file in your minecraft folder and set pauseOnLostFocus to false Also love the farm, thanks for posting the design!

This works on 1.20.4 java. If yours somehow doesnt work, check if you placed the skulk sensor in a right direction. Treasure loot also perfectly works fine, but it sometimes stop fishing for some reason. You have to find the right spot to start fishing at the first place. Thanks for this genius work Ray😊

@@MrArtificialChannel It's not like something serious. Boat placement might not be in the same exact spot as the video, so the fishing spot could be different as well. If you tried the spot from this video and didn't work, then you should try other spot that keeps on fishing while afk. It probably wont be that different from the video. Good luck.

I've watched the video multiple times over, I've tried the tweaks for multiplayer lag, I can't seem to get it right and if it seems to start working I don't get any treasure. I tried reading through the comments for people with similar issues and how to solve it and the answer keeps being to watch the video and do things exactly or download some thing but I'm new to this and have no idea how a schematic or world download works in the first place so that answer does nothing for me. I'm playing in survival without access to spectator/creative so I can't just float underneath it and tweak settings. I'm on my third from scratch rebuild following everything step by step exactly as I see in the video and I'm incredibly frustrated. How do I use the schematic download? What do I even use to open/view a .nbt file?

When I watched the video about mojang messing with you on april 1st, especially after checking that the fish farm video is actually missing, I believed that you are actually saying the truth and doing so on april 1st just to mess with anyone thinking that you are lying. Companies having the power to hurt youtubers whenever is not a new problem. People are losing income to false claims all the time, and one channel I watched got deleted by three strikes against old videos.

Hey! I appreciate you taking the time to respond to the comments that are asking for help. Unfortunately, after following the guide step by step meticulously twice (and making it in a multiplayer realm and singleplayer world), I seem to have the same issue. In short, after everything is set up and I start right-clicking to fish, the fishing rod doesn't actually pull the fish out of the water, so effectively after the fish bites into the lure, nothing really happens. I've checked the position of the boats, the lure and my own and they look exactly as shown in your tutorial. Is there something I'm not seeing? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

My problem was that the first boat is not on chain, even if it looks like it is, try to make the whole thing less perfect and remember to put the first boat exactly as it is in the guide(braking 2 blocks).

Hey Ray when I use this farm after a couple of minutes when I cast out the fishing rod it appears as if it gets shot back at me and then I reel it back in and then the fishing rod stops casting. why does this happen? I am also on single player 1.20.1.

so you say build under open sky, i assume this means i can build underground and dig a 5x5 hole all the way up but can i cover it with glass? would covering it with moss carpets work aswell?

Great farm, but its always a pain to replace the boats if you accidentally bumped one.

Just built this on my 1.20.4 survival world and it works! I afk'd for an hour and came back with a decent amount of treasures 😁 For those who are having issues: - Make sure dimensions, redstone, set up, etc. is built EXACTLY like the tutorial in the video - If one of the boats fall off, restart the whole process again starting at 5:23. The bottom boat is supposed to be at y.156525 when you stand on it - Align yourself in the spot like in 7:30 - If the trapdoor keeps breaking the bobber, double-click in the beginning before doing F3 + T. You may have to click multiple times to make the trapdoor work with the bobber. I seriously don't understand why it didn't work with many people. It only took me 2-3 attempts to get it working, but then again I am playing this offline so things may apply different.

did u ever get the issue where after like 10 minutes ur rod would never cast again and it would be stuck pressing the chest?

For those of you who value your sanity, just build it in the air, or maybe in a well lit portion of an already walled off area in your base. *DO NOT* build it anywhere near sand, you'll have to replace so many blocks you'll question why you didn't build it in the air. I spent 4 hours in a new hardcore world beating a dragon and setting up a villager breeder, iron farm, and this so I could AFK for the drops which are really only useful on the first night, came back in the morning to maybe half a stack of fish and a couple of each treasure loot and a spider sitting on my dead body.

I’ll crouch, cast my rod, stand and continue to hold right click and it will work and auto cast and real the rod for a couple fish then just stop casting. My rod will continue swinging but no will lure come out. Basically it’s afk for about 20 seconds until it stops.

Doesn't work for several reasons. I've had it recast at max 4 times. This is probably because the hook hits the item being fished, and stops the fishing process. That's assuming it can recast at all, as for some reason it just doesn't recast on occasion. I followed all the instructions, and adjusted the redstone repeater, but no setting works.

Same situation here. Rebuilt it twice, added the clock on the second attempt; still stops casting after the first catch. I’m gonna give his world download a go and see if it changes things

@@RHtonyflowCP Let me know how that goes! Also, it could be whatever server you're using. My guess is that Paper is the biggest offender, but it doesn't work on Fabric either, which is what I'm using. But I literally tried everything, including the redstone clock, but no dice.

i tried this on a realm and everything was working fine until i actually tried to use it, it'll cast out and holding right click works but when a fish actually pulls on the rod even though im holding right click it doesn't catch it, is that a problem with the farm or something else?

try crouching at the edge, casting once, letting the trapdoor flip twice, and then standing and holding right-click. had the same problem because I wasn't standing lol

Do the boats have to lined up perfectly for the farm to work, I'm struggling on getting the fishing rod to actually catch the fish, I've built the farm perfectly except in the terms of the boats

So, I did everything in the video. But, it just wont let me catch anything. It only works if I pull the fishing rod manually. I also ensure that the boat is on the right height. The farm works when I tried doing it in your world. Any ideas what could go wrong here?

The farm works great! The only problem I’m having is that I have to always crouch and reset my fishing rod after I get loot for the 2nd/3rd time, is there any way to fix this? I already tried giving the comparators different ticks. The rod would always hit the wool block and miss the bubble column after catching loot

I have built the farm exactly and used the downloaded world, but my trapdoor opens 3 times stopping the rod working. How do I fix this and also does it matter if i dont use glass when covering up the redstone

I think how the farm requires sculk sensors to be a balanced aspect to it, not sure why they hated it after that, I would be happy if they nerfed villager trades and mending enchant

Would this work in Bedrock, and also how do you get a sculk catalisk(I've been away for a while).

It’s funny they haven’t removed villagers yet, those are the most OP/game breaking thing in the whole game

Does the fishing rod have to be enchanted or does it work without enchantments?

I'm very sure i did the farm exactly the way its done in the video but for some reason the fishing rod attaches to the chest and doesnt stay above the soul sand and under the boats once right clicked

I built the farm, but when a fish comes to the line, it's not catching it. Do you know what's happening?

Dont get between a man and his afk fish farm

Do we need to use caliberated skulk sensor or the regular skulk sensor will work?

I built this exactly and every time I rela something in it just goes into an infinite loop of the trap door fluttering

This farm seems to have been broken by a recent patch. I tried the one in the world download and upon holding right click on the chest, the rod is repeatedly cast and brought back. EDIT: This is caused by crouching while fishing. The farm is still functional. IMPORTANT NOTE: The device you have set to your standard right click function in game while afk may impact the functionality of the farm - my mouse works fine with it, but my spacebar has a different latency and breaks the farm

@@LostWaffleBoi It just doesn't work for me, but I think that's because of server lag since I'm using Aternos. On one trapdoor open and shut the fishing rod can go twice, even though it only opens for a tick.

Thank you!! I was trying to figure out why I couldn't get it to work rebuilt it twice.... and it was all because I have auto crouch on so I don't have to hold it so everytime I cast I had the same problem ... uncrouched and it works great 😂😂😂 thanks again!

I know that it is a practical thing because you would have to fill in most of the outer areas again, but it honestly just seems like a total power move, and I can respect that.

I think you can still catch fish in less than 5x5x2 water, but just not get any special drops like what the whole farm is for. That's why it's harder to set up anything automated. Especially the rule of having clear view to the sky is limiting, but the boat stacking trick is very clever.

Having an issue where my fishing rob will always reset when ever I hold down right click. I aligned everything perfectly and the bobber is in the right place but it keeps resetting
