Easy 4-Ingredient BUCKEYE Peanut Butter Balls

How to make dreamy, creamy, no bake buckeye peanut butter balls with just 4 simple ingredients. Easy small batch buckeye recipe, perfect for dessert!
↓↓↓↓↓ BUCKEYE BALLS RECIPE BELOW ↓↓↓↓↓
Let's head into the kitchen and make a batch of easy chocolate peanut butter balls. This is one of my family's favorite Christmas candy recipes. I've been making this buckeye candy recipe every Christmas since I was a kid, and now you can make it too!
PRINTABLE RECIPE: 🖨️ flouronmyfinge... 🖨️
INGREDIENTS:
3 tablespoons salted butter, softened
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup powdered sugar
10 ounces dark chocolate melting wafers
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. In a small mixing bowl, mix up the first three ingredients, including the softened butter, creamy peanut butter, and powdered sugar.
2. Take about a tablespoonful of the peanut butter mixture and begin to roll it between your hands. Shape it into as round of a ball as you can and place it on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
3. Continue rolling until all of your peanut butter mixture has been rolled into peanut butter balls.
4. Add toothpicks (for dipping) to each ball.
5. Chill the peanut butter balls in the fridge or freezer for about half an hour.
6. Melt the chocolate according to package directions.
7. Once your chocolate is ready to go, you can remove the peanut butter balls from the freezer, and start dipping right away.
8. As you partially dip each buckeye into the chocolate, using a toothpick or dipping tool, place it back on the wax paper lined cookie sheet.
9. Chill the chocolate covered peanut butter balls in the fridge or freezer ’til set, probably about 15-20 minutes.
10. Then remove all the toothpicks and cover up the holes with your finger (optional step).
11. Store them in an airtight container or festive Christmas tin (lined with wax paper) in the fridge.

I've been making these for years and it never occurred to me to put a toothpick in each one for more stability when dipping. The Ghirardelli Semi Sweet Chocolate Melts are heaven to work with. Thanks for teaching an old dog new tricks.

These little balls of peanut butter goodness are definitely a holiday staple in my house. I am not sure if it's elsewhere in the comments, but many years a good friend of mine gave me a tip that turns this into two great desserts. Use the leftover dipping chocolate to cover pretzels (we use the tiny twists) and whatever toasted nuts you like. Over the years, this has become such a well-loved part of the tradition that we often times melt extra chocolate, just so we can make sure we have enough for lots of pretzels and nuts.

That sounds great. But then you no longer have a Buckeye. A Buckeye is a real nut that grows in Ohio. If you cover up your peanut butter ball, and put sprinkles on it, it's just that. A chocolate covered peanut butter ball. Us Ohio State Buckeye fans, are quite particular about our Peanut Butter Buckeyes. 😉

We add a teaspoon of vanilla, a full jar of peanut butter and a whole stick of butter and powdered sugar. We melt hersheys chocolate bars with a little parafin wax. Everyone loves them. Makes alot of pb balls.

We add Rice Krispies to the peanut butter mixture. So good. I also make the balls one say and put them in the freezer. The. When you want them melt your chocolate and dip, or drop in, the frozen ball, tap off the excess chocolate and place on baking sheet. Because th balls are frozen the chocolate sets nice and fast.

Grandma Holland made these every year for Christmas! She would put chocolate all over them and put a pecan on top! I remember receiving a Christmas tin with layers of these candies inside!! Such special memories and I sure do miss her... she brought our family together with food.

That sounds like a lot of fun, Angela. She had a great idea in topping buckeyes with pecans. Buckeyes have always been a Christmas tradition around here. I do greatly miss my grandmothers as well.

Half power is also the defrost selection on a microwave. Thirty second intervals works until mostly melted, just stir well each time you check them and don't overcook or the chocolate wafers will get thick and ruined.
