3 years later and this is the video that sold me on this. Great review outside of RJ killing it you've showed its versatility.
This is the best guitar review in the history of KZread.

Wow, this was very entertaining, also a great demo of the WE Tenor Baritone…
I must say, not only are you a great player but you're also an excellent sales woman! I want to play one of these ASAP
Beautiful playing! Bravo! I’m definitely going to buy one of these 😮
I have to say that I think this is my All Time Favorite “Ellen’s Favorite Things”!! Of course, I play bass and ukulele, so I’m biased about 4 strings.

Wow! High praise! Thanks!
I've bought one in November 2023 , changed the strings with a lighter gauge ; just two complaints: the axlebox that is inside the tuner of the A string , came off from the headstock, and the screw nut that should hold the jack cable inserted, came off too , and the screw thread disappered inside the guitar body. I had to use a thin plyer to pull it up , to be able to insert the screw nut that came off . For 700 euros ( plus 200 for import taxes) an instrument should not have defects like these. By the rest , the neck is perfect, the fretboard has an enjoyable action, and , expecially since i have changed the strings ( 14 / 24 / 38/ 49) , the sound is great . Soon i will add another pick up , among the Blade and the Minibucker. My choice went to a Seymour Duncan mini humbucker. Of course ( but is just my taste) i always connect the tenorbaritone to the compressor, sounds even better . Greetings from Italy, Patrick
You're right! They are really great instruments!!
So I had never seen Ellen's videos before, I subbed after like 30 seconds! Love the video, love the electric cello!

New favorite video as I'm working through each of them. I want that guitar, but mostly I'd just want you to play it constantly.
This is the best gear demo I've ever seen. Thank you! I just purchased your Eastwood Newport Tenor because this is EFFECTIVE marketing (Don't tell RJ Ronquillo that his Newport demo didn't seal the deal for me). LOLOLOL

I bought this guitar because of this review
There's a 5-string version with a high E that gives you back the rest of a 6-string's upper range. I'm not a guitarist, but I really like the idea of 5 strings evenly spaced across a 6 string-width neck, in pure 5ths, starting with the cello's low C. Drop-C is about the lowest I like when listening to metal, as anything lower sounds muddy on normal scale length guitars. Drop B is my hard limit, but the point is that a 5-string in 5ths gives you all the range from Drop-C up to E-standard, and when put across a 6 string neck, you don't have the "harp" issue of playability that 7-9 string instruments do, AND you also have more space between each string for fingerstyle.
I'd love to try one but using cocteau twins / chameleons style effects...

Well that is just so nice! There's a video somewhere on our channel of Ellen review a rainstick so pretty close, haha!
I play 6 string but I prefer and play my tenor guitar more. I am a Tenor guitar fanatic. I have 4 acoustic tenor guitars and one Eastman electric tenor guitar just like yours.
Every time someone pulls out a mandocello I KNOW they're going to launch into Bach as if they just thought of it. For once, just this once, I WANTED to hear it. (Love Bach, but only the first million times.) I play all tenors all the time but I've been thinking of having Steve Wishnevsky make me an acoustic one of these, though of course we won't use the preposterous name "baritone tenor" (which is like calling me an old youngster or a skinny, um, fat guy. That didn't work as well.)

Haezaert Pierre would probably need different strings but it's possible!
Ok, so i wanna use this for rock and metal... can I change the bridge pickup on this?
@FannysHouseofMusic
6 жыл бұрын
TIDALWAVE GREAT question! First step is to find a pickup that will work. I would check out pickups made for cigar box guitars (maybe the MGB Box Bucker for rock and metal!) or bass pickups. Then you’d have to take off the pickguard and see what the routing looks like underneath there. I don’t know for sure, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was a big enough cavity to accommodate a lot of different kinds of pickups. I bet Eastwood would help out if you emailed them. Then, finally, you’ll probably have to make the hole in the pickguard a little bigger, depending on what type of pickup you get. If you go through with this, please let us know! We’d love to see and hear it. Shoot us an email any time at info (at) fannyshouseofmusic (dot) com.

@kevinclarke9406
4 жыл бұрын
@Foocax Go for it! It sounds ridiculously delicious with distortion, fuzz, overdriven, just a bit or flat out. Rolling the tone control back (or even 'off') makes the most of a good amp / pedal set-up, in my experience. As with any new guitar, a luthier's professional touch will make this play like fried gold. This is one guitar I'll never sell...👍
Where else can we hear Ellen play, like in a band context or backing a singer?

I'm boring, so I'd probably tune this in fourths (I'm a dumb bassist, what do I know?). I've always just preferred four strings no matter what.

Seeing as eastwood did exactly that for the SG tenor... Then why not? :)
You sound amazing, Ellen. But, The strings seem really far apart. I’m just a self taught chord strummer, is this made more for someone that can do more picking than just playing chords ?
@FannysHouseofMusic
5 жыл бұрын
We think it’d be great for someone who just plays chords! If you get the chance to try one out in a store (like ours!) you should. We think you’ll find the string spacing makes a lot of sense, given the amount of tension, the fact that the lowest string is pretty thick, and that there’s only four strings. It doesn’t allow for the spread out fingerings of mandolin chords, but it does make open, first position chords sound really great.
