We were lucky to hear of an Eastern Whip-poor-will (Antrostomus vociferus) that had been found roosting in the park. A fabulous bird to see and at close quarters too. Fortunately, everyone was restful and did not distrub the bird.

Or consuming the souls of the dying. According to HP lovecrafts, the dunwich horror these things would eat a departing soul as it leaves its body when people die
