Even though I live back east, I've had the pleasure of riding the roads between Shaniko and Fossil on three different visits over the years. Truly some of the best riding in the country. Completely devoid of traffic. Just you, the bike, the road and the wonderful scenery. I even have a photo taken in the same John Day Fossil beds rest area where you stopped. Always stayed in the Hotel Condon, very nice and recommended.

I've ridden that stretch of road many times in the past 15 years. Tiger Town has some great food.

A few years ago we parked our butts in the River Bend and made day rides. Great country! The store next door provided some food, but it's kind of limited. As in very.

Fantastic riding over there. I was just out there a few weeks ago at Maupin Madness rally. I skipped most of the festivities to explore. The lack of traffic, and fantastic roads will bring me back!

What a great road

Very nice run. I was out that way last summer, riding from Boise to the coast at Charleston. I came out of Boise on the 20, Southwest at Riley through Christmas Valley, then over the Cascades on the 138 which runs the North Umpqua river valley. The 138 is a very scenic run, recommended.

Love those roads. Nice shots! You missed an opportunity between Fossil and Mitchell. Rowe Creek Rd / Girds Creek Rd through Twickenham. All good pavement, very twisty and scenic. Next time you're out that way...
