East TN vs Middle TN - Who Wins?

When comparing East TN vs Middle TN what is the best option for you? While East TN has the Great Smoky Mountains, Middle TN is home to the Tennessee's Capital city, Nashville. In this video, my colleague Rachal Hadidsaz and I discuss 10 things you should know when comparing East TN and Middle TN.

    Middle Tn has more jobs but it’s not worth it ! East Tn by far is the most beautiful with beautiful ppl as well ! East Tn has jobs just not as many as Nashville though ! I love the sense of God Family and Country that East Tn has and so east tn gets my vote !! I’ve lived in both for about 25 years so I can vote fairly ! Hopefully east Tn keeps its sense of authenticity!!!

    We moved from Fallbrook California a little over a year ago after retiring from the military, we had a small home on a small property and bought a diamond of a home and property in New Market. We went from a one acre lot and a 1350 sq ft home to a 3400 sq ft foot home on ten acres with deer, turkeys and zero neighbor's with the same exact mortgage. I could not imagine living in a city with almost or over four million people a still growing. If you are in the market for a huge home and property, East Tennessee is the place to live. As for the gas lines, we have a buried five hundred gallon propane tank fifty yards from our home that on one refill, provides our needs for an entire year and you do not need flat ground for this benefit, just hire the right company. Tri Light internet and cable is a perfect fit for even the most rural East Tennessee living.

    @@TennRides I believe that the current political climate, along with poor policies put in place by our elected officials in D.C., has had a greater effect on the local housing market than those coming in from out-of-state. I do acknowledge that supply and demand come into play, but it's only part of the picture. It appears that you underestimate the hold that progressive politics has over the California's political landscape. I invite you to spend a year or two there to experience it. Not interested? I don't blame you. When two out of three residents favor the current governor and what he brings to the table, it doesn't take complicated mathematics to see why conservatives are leaving in droves. For me, it was the beauty of Appalachia that drew me to East Tennessee, along with it's centralized location to most of the eastern seaboard and the Midwest. Anyway, I respect your opinion, but it appears we disagree on why the market is the way it is.

    @@RedVoodoo69er I see the people fleeing those states as cowards. They keep quiet and allowed the state to get so out of control. Many of the ones moving to my home state are in fact liberals. They could no longer afford to live in the chaos THEY voted into power, etc. Then they move here and want to elect the same kind of idiots that ruined THEIR state. Makes absolutely no sense. Why would I even want to remotely live in Californication's current situation? I don't need to see, or be bitten by, a skunk to know it is there. It is more than just the increase in property values, thus increase in our taxes with income that does not adjust to keep up with it, but it is also the HUGE increase in crime, especially crimes we never used to see in this part of the state. There is an increase in gang activity, again, something we never really had to deal with, violent crimes, traffic jams, etc, etc, and etc. I don't know any true Tennessean that is happy with so many of y'all moving here and destroying our way of life. I don't have time at the moment to listen to this entire video. I am less than three minutes into it, and as someone from northeast TN, and for the last 20 years near Murfreesboro, TN I would like to say, "DON"T move to TN!" I left Johnson City because there was far too many outsiders moving in and making our property values, hence taxes, go through the roof, but our pay didn't increase to keep up with it. The crime also shot through the roof and we started seeing crimes we never used to even hear about when I was younger. When I move to the 'Boro, it was my favorite place ever. However, the last 5-7 years it has become just as bad as Nashville! A once delightful town has become full of drug addicts, rapists, murderers, thieves, and home values have skyrocketed, again, along with my property taxes, but our pay didn't go up to keep the same pace. All these outsiders coming in at record breaking numbers may be great to make a killing as a real estate agent, but y'all are hurting the majority of Tennesseans like me and my family. If people want to make this like Chicago, live there, if they want it to be like LA, live there, if they want it to be like Detroit, live there...Please, quit coming HERE and ruining it for those of us from here!

    As someone with roots in Tennessee who grew up in NU/NY, I’m tired of hearing south/Midwest people complaining about New Yorkers/Californias all being terrible people and clogging up the “red” states when frankly people/things are terrible everywhere. You really think the South was this perfect place with no rape/murder/crime until those darned carpetbaggers brought it in? And you think TN prices are getting too high with a lack of job/salary growth? I’m afraid to even tell you my rent in Queens because it might short-circuit your brain (because if TN is already too costly you don’t want to know how $ NYC gets). I don’t love the city, and frankly during covid times I hate it and want to move anywhere but here. There are many people from the “coastal lib” states who relate to my sentiment: we are not the people you need to worry about. And fortunately for every one person I hear bitching about us terrible blue staters, there are 3+ more southerners who are hospitable to me regardless of where I’m from. TN or NY: our enemies are still pretty much the same. Stop wasting your time hating everyone who moves to TN. Otherwise go move somewhere cheaper than TN and enjoy having people in that state turn YOU into a scapegoat for all problems

  • @TennRides

    @TennRides

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@davish53 I highly doubt you have "roots" here. The area I live in did NOT have murders, rapes, robberies, etc, etc, and etc, UNTIL all you outsiders started bringing it in from your "Blue States" as you put it. People here left their doors unlocked, even on vacation, because nobody would come in and rob you while you slept, or cut your throat and then rape your wife. Was there crime here in TN? Sure, but it was in cities like Memphis and Nashville, NOT smaller, or I should say used to be smaller, communities like near where I live. Sure prices are much higher where you live...prices are always higher, as is the crime rates, in blue cities and states!!! You also get paid a LOT more money than we do. That is how so many are moving here, paying cash for homes, and forcing our home values, and thus taxes, through the roof. Because they earn more money, and paid more for their house back in the stink-hole city they came from, they can pay cash for houses here and shoot off their mouths how cheap it is compared to "back where I came from" and real estate goes up thanks to them. It is a good deal for outsiders, but a HORRIBLE for us Tennesseans. I can't believe you are stupid enough, or have the audacity to suggest that I should move away from my own state to find a less expensive place to live!!! What a simple minded jackass you are!!! Why the H should Tennesseans be forced to leave their homes so outside liberal pricks can steal our land, as it were? I have a better idea, why don't y'all just stay where the H you are, fix your own problems by no longer voting into power communists that call themselves Democrats, but in reality want to do nothing but destroy our once great and mighty nation. Don't try to ruin it for us, fix your own shit and stay where you are!!! Oh, and the people you claim to know in TN that treat you well, are likely not born and raised here!!! One last thing, I do NOT hate all the people moving here, many are fine folks, but on the other hand MANY of them are bringing their gang banger kids with them, and the parents STILL lack the parenting skills to stop their punk kids from being hood rats. Thus, they come here and start gangs, etc. Now even in the once great city of Murfreesboro, TN we have gangs, drugs, violence, and....you get my point.

    I recently made NETN (Johnson City) my home; and I came from California. It surprises me none whatsoever that Tennessee is having a migration boom. It is unfortunate that the housing supply is not keeping up with demand, but there are other factors in play that has made it difficult to buy (or rent). Wages definitely have not kept up with the cost-of-living, of which seems to be one of the major contributors. The people are great here, but expect some ribbing if you come from out-of-state. Most of the kidding is in fun, but there are a few folks out there don't adapt to change very well. Honestly, I can't blame them. UT football alone has a 400 million dollar a year impact on the Knox County economy. East TN vs Mid TN... This might seem like a dumb question, but... what distance are we talking in driving time? Im in SoCalif, to drive from LA to SF, that is a 8-9 hour drive. LA to Oregon State line is 12-14 hours or more. LA to Las Vegas is about 4 hours, and its through the ugliest desert in the World, parts of it is even call "Death Valley" (REALLY) Question, TN seems like a small State, but also mostly small 'poor' roads..? Are we talking 2 hours Nashville to Knoxville? Is that a 2 lane road or 4 lanes? What speed would be considered normal in TN... LA to SF, is 3-4 lanes each direction, traveling about 70-80mph most of the way. So.. Distance = Time to travel + roads, road condition + speed.. Any help?

Downtown Knoxville to Downtown Nashville is about a 2.5 - 3 hour drive... depending on who's driving. 😂 The drive from one to the other is all on I-40 which is our major East to West interstate. East Tennessee is basically “Newport or NOT Newport” so long as they don’t live in Newport, they inherently feel special.

    That’s a silly statement. Nothing wrong with Newport or Cocke county, yes it has had a bad rep in the past but it’s really changed if I believe the stories I’ve heard. I live between Newport and Cosby in the mountains, it’s amazing here I love it.

    East Tn is the best place to be if your retired. Middle to West Tn sucks! If your still working then I give Tn a F for jobs because most are low paying and below poverty. If you want small town and super nice people then East Tn is where it is at. If you like high crime then you will like middle and West Tn. If you want to pay more money for a home or rent then you will like Middle and West Tn. But for me you could not pay me enough to live in the piss holes of middle and West Tn..
