Shore power is any regular source of power like a house outlet or campground power station, used to supplement or charge your camper vans house battery. Even though we rely on the sun as our main source of power, we think it's essential to always have a backup way to charge your batteries. This is useful if you're parked in the shade for extended periods of time, if you have snow that you cant clear off your solar panels, or as a way to keep your batteries topped up while your van is stored and not being used. We love this NOCO Exterior Plug because it's a sleek design that allows you to plug an extension cord into the back of your van without opening your doors! In order to connect the NOCO to our battery system, we use an inverter-charger. Inverters convert the 12V power of your batteries to 120V power for house appliances like a blender. The charger function does the opposite, where it takes 120V power from your house, and converts it into 12V power to charge your batteries!
