If you have an OEM Spoiler, you’ll want to remove it. Make sure your trunk is clean and clear of any residue. Using isopropyl alcohol is a great way to clean the surface. Just remember that it will remove any wax or coatings on the paint and it will need to be reapplied after you install the spoiler.
Set the spoiler onto the trunk. Make sure it is centered. You’ll want approximately a quarter inch of paint showing on each side of the trunk.
Once centered, you will need to tape the right, left and center of the spoiler to the trunk with the masking tape. This will provide a hinge effect that will allow you to peel the 3M adhesive and set the spoiler down in the exact spot you wanted. Use about 4-5 pieces on each side of the spoiler. In the center, use longer pieces of masking tape. As you hinge the spoiler, the arc is a greater distance from the trunk, so the longer pieces keep them from coming off.
You’re now ready to remove the 3M adhesive. Remember, you only get one chance so be sure the spoiler is exactly where you want.
Hinge the spoiler up and peel back the 3M adhesive on the bottom, then the top.
Slowly, bring the spoiler down onto the trunk and press firmly for 30 - 60 seconds. Work your way down to each end, pressing firmly against the spoiler.
That’s it. An easy install that adds an attractive, yet highly effective, aesthetic upgrade.

If you properly clean/prepare the surface prior to installing, you will be good. However, I would recommend being mindful of the amount of water pressure you're using when spraying the area with a hose during washes.

My other suggestion is to let the car sit for 24hrs after the install. I've had great success using this method.
What if the carbon is a bit warped and the fitment isnt 100% on both sides. Can you clamp it down and the tape still holds it in place?

What about waterproofing? Won't water effect the 3m tape over time?

If the surface is properly prepped and the spoiler is installed correctly (making sure to press down and get a good seal), water won't have an effect on the adhesive.

Use Betalink K1 (BMW approved glue), don’t use this shitty tape.

@@gotworcever lmao. Well said. That's what we use for moldings at the body shop and they don't come off. Ever. Use 3m adhesion promoter as well. Even better..

You cant use 3m tape as a permanent fixture u need to only use it to mock it into place then you need to either drill it on or use a strong adhesive like gorilla glue

///M means so much in BMW that BMW will make anything into ///M as long as it has potential customers. Even ///M1 or their SUV's...

Utter crap. Wait until water gets under that 3m tape!! If you can't bolt it down buy the proper bmw adhesive. Just 3m tape won't hold over time.
