Easiest way to brace electric fences - the floating knee brace

I give a quick overview of what a floating knee brace is, how it supports the fence, and how to build one. I then give a real time demonstration of how. to build one from start to finish.

Hi just a little thing to remember the higher the Stay brace on your Strainer post (the up right post called corner post here) is the more it will want to lift your Straner up as the force is exerted by the pull of the wire fence. I was taught by a NZ farmer and fencing Contractor years ago to keep the Stay brace down lower than shown here on The Strainer and i did this on my Property fencing.

I have been using floating knee braces for 20 years. I would suggest using a 10' brace rail rather than an 8'. The end post is less likely to jack up out of the ground with a longer brace rail. This is even more important when the end assembly is in a low area. I would also put the brace rail about 1/2 way up the height of the top wire on the end post rather than 2/3. With electric fences there is a tendency to build them higher than necessary. The higher the top wire, the more strain on the end and corner assemblies.
