Another option for installing Timeless Fence A Frame floating brace

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Mike shows you how you can install the A-Frame braces or corners without having to bury the leg brace in the ground and concrete it. Only the vertical post has to be put into the ground. This saves some labor and only uses one bag on concrete mix.

I have been using floating diagonal braces using treated wood posts for 40 years. I learned that a longer (10') diagonal brace rail needs to be used and positioned on the end post at 1/2 the height of the top wire. Having too short of a brace rail tends to jack the end posts up out of the ground when under tension and is even worse with frost action.

Is your vertical post driven? Or dug with a post hole diggers then concreted

The vertical post should be concreted. It is best to dig either with a post-hole digger or an auger, then concrete it.

How many wires is this going to hold? How tall for the fence? Thx.

The video is 2 wires. I have used the floating brace with 4 wires and easily can be done with 5 wires. The brace for 4 and 5 wires should be placed right below the second wire from the top. Measure the height from the ground to the top of the brace post where it intercepts the vertical post. Take that measurement and multiply by 1.7 and that is the length of the brace. Example: height above ground measures 37" x 1.7 = 63". This is the length of the brace post.

So far I have used 4 wires up to a 46" top wire height above ground. Place the diagonal brace right under the second wire from the top. Length of the brace should be the height above ground to the second wire from the top and multiply by 1.7. Example: second wire from the top is 37" above ground (37 X 1.7 = 63") Length of brace is 63" min. This will work for 5 wires as well.
