Another thing for those going in for this method is during the first cooking part, add some buwuwo( small.pices of banana leaves ) on top of your bananas as they cook so you get that flavourful matooke

I am from Barbados an island in the Caribbean. I stumbled across your channel and here it is you are cooking one of our favourite dishes all be it, in a slightly different way. We don't use the green banana leaves etc in preparing the meal anymore. But I will definitely try it the way you cook it. It looks so appetising! By the way you are a very very beautiful woman! Hope you continue put up interesting content and have a successful channel.

I was just thinking that! I'm in North Florida. There are lots of banana plants, but far more leaves than fruit! Latin markets and farmers' markets often have the green cooking bananas, I think that's what we're talking about here? They don't really become sweet when they are ripe. Anyway, where these grow, you can have as many leaves as you want, so it's interesting to see a use for them.

There is a Hispanic (Nicaraguan I think) food that's vaguely similar, Nacatamales. It's made of corn, wrapped up in banana leaves and boiled or steamed. They're really good! The flavor of the leaves gets into the food a little, and the texture is very nice, and you get to open this messy package and the steam comes out! They are typically one big serving, like a lunch. I thought this is where we were going today, and was a little surprised to see one big dumpling! We don't know anything about Ugandan food here, so this can be a start, since we have the stuff!
Thank you so much.I am definitely trying this out.
Very sincere work to keep traditional recipes alive. Please come up with more rustic traditional recipes, best wishes from India🇮🇳

If your inlaws are Baganda.. then you should know, they have a secret of not using a wooden spoon (omuyiko) to mingle matooke. Its bse some people are dropping their traditions and embracing other people's traditions which make no sense. Obuwuwo, ebyayyi, ebikolokomba have a strong tradition to Baganda. Another thing to mingle matooke with your own hands.. Bitter truth!!!!!

Hey greetings from Germany between Stuttgart and Nuremberg. i have think about Mantooke in Glas for the Peoble in the slums this will be a great idea. if german peoble spend money uganda farmers in the best case small farmers become more money for it then like if they rebuy to complete fruits and the shipping cost to the slum ist sponcoring to from german peoble so musst the peoble in the slum nothing pay for it and have than a great meal.
I love this method easier and quicker and brings the same results .
