My guess is it actually doesn't work on ps4 or xbox with a controller

Confirmed, works in 1.19 bedrock. Here's some more info: Everything works fine underground, though it would work faster above ground / with direct sky access as skylight and rain affect the wait time. (this might have changed?) There used to be a mechanic where the body of water that was fished in had to be a certain size (5x4x5), if the body was smaller than that then you would only catch fish and junk. However, testing with this design, I very quickly got an enchanted fishing rod which is part of the Treasure category, meaning that the 5x4x5 area is probably not required anymore. All good! *update* : been fishing for a few days and I've gotten plenty of treasure items, including 3 Mending books. *update 2* : still works in 1.19.1 for me. got another mending book yesterday!

@@pphead605 Treasure items are: name tags, saddles, nautilus shells, enchanted bows, enchanted fishing rods, and enchanted books. if you have gotten at least one of any of those items, then you are able to catch treasure, therefore you will eventually get more enchanted books. make sure you have Luck of the Sea to increase treasure chances.

I guarantee half of you lot are here just for the mending book

@@AirforgeAf you're supposed to reset the librarian's trades by moving his linked lectern repeatedly until he has what you want, before making any trades with him, which will then permanently lock in those trades. Takes about 10 minutes to get mending once you find any villager.

This is great for my survival world. TYSM!

There's a way to explain why the hopper minecart is able to pick up the stuff before the lava burns it. Since minecarts are worth more or less half a block, a hopper + a minecart has a reach of 1.5 blocks minimal, though it doesn't look like it, you can actually try. You can even put it on a railway system under a skeleton mob farm or slime farm and it can collect everything for you AND deposit it in a chest. It's really cool.

I think they may have fixed something as of 1.18.1. Because the chest is completely waterlogged and you have to shift click to cast at the chest.

You always have to click to cast it out , you just don’t have to push anything when reeling in a fish. It will automatically retract the fish for you

This is magic! My spouse built one on our personal server, but I created a solo world and missed it. So I figured I could make it. I DID!! AND within my first 5 casts I got an enchanted book! I had fished for *hours* at a nearby lake and never got anything cool! Thank you for the very clear and easy to follow tutorial!

I can’t see the nozzle of the hopper anywhere and i am doing what he is doing and I drop an item and it stops in the item but won’t go in the chest can you help

@@Turdsmeller I almost got stumped on that one. Pay attention to where he is looking at the chest. Make sure to dig one block from the place where you will put the Hopper. Crouch and place the Hopper to where he is looking at. Then dig around, replace blocks, and check to see if the nozzle connects to the chest. If so, you should replace the rest of the blocks and continue on with the build! 😊💖

I'm curious, why does this give you treasure loot? I thought Minecraft updated so that treasure loot could only be obtained by being in a 5x5x5 open area of water, or something like that.

It's the area you cast your rod You have to cast it in the top middle If it isn't that then try removing and replacing the sign

Before removing and replacing the sign be sure to pick up your Lava source or you'll just have an Obsidian block afterward.

The hardest part was learning how to catch fish in a bucket lol. Many… many fish were booped on the head this day! I also added a handy dropper elevator to bring the items back up and spit them out where I’m standing. So no need to go check the chest, I know right away what I’m catching 😃

@@Iko10899 Nah I just had some droppers offload from the chest, all pointed up into one another and stood on the top one. Something like that anyways, been a while since I built and used it so can’t really remember lol.

Thanks for the farm JC. In case others have not mentioned it, in 1.18 I can point the rod pretty much anywhere on the sign and it works! None of this “point it at this exact pixel” that other fish farms I’ve tried have!

@@wardmw Well it doesn't matter after looking more in to these afk fishers none of em work how they used to before 1.16 update. It changed the whole afk fishing exploit. If it's not a 5x5x5 cube you won't be able to get treasure. So anything showcasing these after that is just click bait to get watches considering none of em even show the build number its been used.

After about five minutes the most interesting items I got were: Saddle, charmed bow, name tag, enchanted book with three spells, charmed fishing rod, two nautilus shells. This is in v1.18.12, the latest public release which was built in a v1.18 world. I’m sorry you seem to be struggling with this one.

One problem: in the 1.20 update you can edit signs, to fix this, aim at the bottom of the slab and cast the fishing rod
